"BANKAI!!"
The scream that followed echoed throughout the entire Seireitei. Even though the Gotei 13 acted as quickly as they could, they arrived far too late. As the squads arrived, they found a Soul Reaper lying in a pool of his own blood.
"Kokichiro!" It was lieutenant Rangiku Matsumoto of Squad 10 who first recognised the figure. Kokichiro was the 7th seated officer of the very same squad. "Kokichiro... who did this?" His eyes opened slowly.
"...Lieutenant... Matsumoto... Genesis -"
"Genesis?"
"It was... him... who.." He fell unconscious.

Ichigo ran as fast as his legs could carry him. Urahara had told him that this was an urgent matter and that Captain Toshiro Hitsugaya needed to speak with him. He walked in, surprised to see that Chad, Orihime and Uryu were all already there.
"All right! We're all here!" Urahara's chirpy voice was unmistakeable. Sure enough, he walked through the door mere seconds later. "Let's get this meeting started!"

"Are you serious!?" Cried Ichigo.
"Of course I'm serious. This man is going to be a danger to us all." Hitsugaya replied. "We don't know his intentions yet, but I doubt they're very friendly ones."
"Wait, is this Genesis guy on any of the records? If he really is a Soul Reaper he should be there!"
"We've contacted Captain Kurotsuchi of this and he says that the word 'Genesis' has been removed from every file." The gasp resounded throughout the shop. Uryu was suspicious though.
"How do you know that this Genesis is a Soul Reaper?"
"We don't know for sure, but from the description we managed to get out of Kokichiro he was wearing a Shihakusho and carrying a zanpakuto." He turned to Ichigo. "Substitute Soul Reaper, Ichigo Kurosaki," He started, "I have orders from Head Captain Yamamoto to enlist your help in finding the true intentions of Genesis."

Had he started too small? No, this was perfect. The entire Gotei 13 came running to the scene. He smiled. His Zetsuei had done a lot of good work today. It wouldn't be long now. The entire Seireitei would be looking for him. They would most likely bring in the substitute Soul Reaper and his merry band of humans. He would have to make sure they find him. "Soon, it will all be complete." Genesis laughed and skulked away into the night.

Ichigo, Uryu, Chad and Orihime once again found themselves in the Soul Society. A brief meeting with the Head Captain had told them all they needed to know. This 'Genesis' had seriously wounded a member of Squad 10, his body only being repairable with Orihime's healing powers. It was plain to see how dangerous he was. There was only one problem - how were they supposed to find him?
"Need some help?" The four of them whirled round to find themselves face to face with Renji Abarai and Rukia Kuchiki.
"We've received orders to help you with yours." Rukia told them.
"I just wish we knew more about Genesis-" Chad started, but he was quickly interrupted by a voice.
"You called?" They looked around. Where was that voice coming from? Who was speaking? Suddenly Rukia cried out in pain. A man was standing behind her, his zanpakuto buried into her body. He drew it out slowly, trying to enjoy Rukia's pain as much as he could.
"You... you're Genesis!" Ichigo took Zangetsu of his back and pointed it at him. Genesis sighed.
"My, my. And here I was thinking this was going to be a challenge" His eyes suddenly became fierce. "Demolish, Zetsuei!" His Zanpakuto glowed and extended, becoming and entirely white blade.
"Roar, Zabimaru!" Ichigo and Renji charged at him. Ichigo swung Zangetsu down with tremendous force and speed and Renji's Zabimaru went flying towards him. Genesis merely stepped aside. Chad formed Brazo Derecha de Gigante and fired El Directo which Genesis stopped with one hand. Uryu fired multiple arrows, but Genesis dodged with little effort. Then, with one swing of Zetsuei, he incapacitated both of them and Orihime.
"Come on! I didn't come here to play around! Start fighting properly! Ichigo! Renji! Show me your Bankais!"
"You want my Bankai?" Renji asked, his voice lined with disgust. "Fine then, but you brought this upon yourself! BANKAI!!" Genesis smiled as Zabimaru's true form emerged. "Hihio Zabimaru!" With one flick of the hilt, Renji sent Zabimaru flying towards Genesis. But Genesis was no longer there. Confused, Renji looked around... and felt a sword run through his chest.
"Why... you..." Renji spluttered. Genesis smiled.
"So, I brought this upon myself, did I?" Genesis roared with laughter and rounded on Ichigo. "So now it's just you."
"BANKAI!!!" Ichigo was mad with anger and his Spiritual Pressure was close to breaking point. "Tensa Zangetsu!" Genesis laughed again.
"This is going to be fun." Ichigo ran at him. "Do you not realise it? Even with that speed you can't strike me."
"Oh, really?" Ichigo donned his hollow mask and jumped high into the air. "GETSUGA TENSHO!"
"Wha- What?" Genesis tried to protect himself with Zetsuei but that wasn't enough. He was hurled back, crashing through several buildings before standing up. He wiped the blood from his face. "Luc... Lucky shot!" He panted. "I won't let you get away with that. Bankai! Reppa Zetsuei!" Ichigo was came at Genesis again, but this time Ichigo's own shadow attacked him.
"What? What's going on?"
"That's the power of Reppa Zetsuei. I can control your shadow!" Genesis howled with laughter. "My turn!" He gathered reiatsu into Zetsuei and formed a circle with it, before firing it at Ichigo. "TENMEI BANRAI!!"

"Scatter. Senbonzakura." The thousands of blades stopped Genesis' attack. He wheeled round. Byakuya Kuchiki was standing there, next to Kenpachi Zaraki and Yachiru Kusajishi.
"Take him out, Kenny!" Shouted Yachiru.
"Heh. With pleasure." Kenpachi charged at Genesis, overwhelming him with his strength. Genesis was lighter on his feet, but Kenpachi was by far the more skilful swordsman and for a while, neither one of them could land a hit on each other.
"You're not... so bad..." Genesis panted.
"Same to you." Kenpachi replied. "But, I'm getting bored. Let's kick this up!" He took of his eyepatch, which partially drains his spiritual pressure, and roared. He charged again and this time, he cut through Genesis' left shoulder. Genesis cried out as the blood came spurting out. With his guard now down, Byakuya made his move. He sent the thousands of blades created from Senbonzakura's shikai straight towards Genesis. He never stood a chance.

Ichigo went over to Genesis' immobile body.
"...What was it that you wanted, Genesis?"
"That's not my name."
"Then... what is it?"
"Well..." Genesis' 'body' began to melt away, revealing...
"KON!!!!!"

Note: Genesis' Zanpakuto name and 'Tenmei Banrai' attack are taken from the Japanese version of Final Fantasy XIII. Reppa, Zetsuei and Tenmei Banrai are all able to be used by the eidolon Odin.
