Once upon a time I was
the perfect girlfriend,
matched up with the
perfect
boyfriend. But he ended up being
not so perfect, and he
broke me. I
shattered
into a million pieces,
left along the roadside for some
unlucky
person to find and put back together.
I was like an angel, but with
clipped
wings, unable to fly again as I had before.
Others came and dragged me from the
ditch
where he had left me to
die.
I was suddenly
imperfect,
floating through a world of other
imperfect
souls, lost and alone.
Then you came and, not
knowing
that I was so broken,
reached out and
pulled
me from the masses.
Still, I am
imperfect
but suddenly it doesn’t seem so
bad
because you showed me
that you are
imperfect
too, and we are a pair of
imperfect
people clinging to each other,
and together we have
hope.
