Melody's POV
Another week had passed by us and it's now New Year's Eve. I am a little nervous for tonight seeing as how the guys are dragging me along to some New Year's party with their friends. I would honestly prefer to just stay home and watch movies alone but apparently that is not an option.
"So, what time is this party?" I questioned Frank.
"It starts around seven, I think, but we're not going until around nine."
I groaned. "Do I really have to go? Why can't I just stay here alone?"
Frank sighed. "If you really don't want to go then you and I will stay here and watch movies or something, okay?"
"Frankie, no. You go and I'll stay. I'll be fine by myself."
"I'm not leaving you alone, Melody."
"Fine. I'll go." I huffed. "What should I wear?"
"Just wear something comfortable like some jeans and a tee. No one is gonna be dressed up."
"Fine but I demand a tummy rub before I go anywhere."
He grinned cheekily at me as he lay beside me on his, or our bed rather, and pulled my shirt up. He lay his head against my chest and began lazily tracing his fingers across my stomach.
"You're the best, Frankie. Did you know that?"
"Of course I am. How could you not know that?" He fake gasped, causing me to giggle.
A few moments of comfortable silence passed between us as he continued to rub my tummy. I glanced down to see his eyes closed and a lazy smile gracing his face.
"Frankie?"
"Hmm?"
"Do you ever think about her as a mistake?"
His fingers halted mid-stroke and his eyes popped open to meet mine.
"What?"
I averted my eyes from his, casting them to the floor before speaking.
"Our daughter. I know you said I didn't ruin your life but I can't help but feel that way still. I can't help but wonder if deep down you feel like she's a mistake."
I felt Frank's fingers curl beneath my chin as he turned my head, forcing me to meet his eyes.
"Melody, listen to me and listen to me good. Our daughter is not a mistake nor will she ever be. Just because she wasn't planned doesn't mean she's a mistake. I know in the beginning of all of this I said some mean things to you and I am sorry. I am sorry if I ever made you feel that way and I will do whatever it takes to make that up to you. Our daughter is going to be the most loved and happiest child to enter this world. Do you understand me?"
I nodded as a single tear slipped down my right cheek. Frank wiped it away with his thumb and hugged me close to his chest. I wrapped an arm around his waist and buried my face in his hair, inhaling the scent. I smiled to myself as the scent of kiwi filled my nostrils.
"Frankie, have you been using my shampoo?"
"I uh...well yeah. It smells good." He shrugged.
I chuckled. "It's okay. It smells good on you."
"Good because I like it. It makes my hair soft."
I burst into a fit of giggles. "You're not right in the head but I love you anyway, Frankie."
"But that's why you love me."
"This is true. Now continue the tummy rubbing."
"Yes ma'am." He fake saluted me before continuing his strokes across my stomach.
A short time later we were interrupted by a knock at the door. I glanced up to see Chris standing there.
"Okay slutmuffins, we have to leave in about a hour so get ready."
"Ugh! I don't wanna." I groaned.
"Com on, it'll be fun and you might just meet some interesting people."
"Fine. Everyone out so I can change."
After searching my entire wardrobe and trying on all of my jeans without success I burst into tears. Not even a minute later Frank burst through the door and I scrambled to cover myself.
"Melody, what's wrong?"
"Frank! I'm in my underwear!"
He rolled his eyes and closed the door behind him.
"It's just me, Mel. Now tell me what's wrong with you?"
"I-I...none of my clothes fit anymore." I sniffed.
"Mel, it's okay. We'll find you something."
"I already tried everything on and none of my jeans fit."
"Hmm...wait! I have an idea."
Frank began digging around in his closet, emerging just minutes later with a pair of ripped black jeans.
"Here put these on."
I obliged, slipped them on quickly. To my surprise they fit perfectly and I was able to button them just below my baby bump.
"Frankie, you are amazing! Thank you."
"No problem. We are going to have to go shopping tomorrow or something. You need new clothes."
"Yeah. Now I just need a shirt."
"Give me a minute and I'll find you one, okay?"
I wrapped him in a tight hug, forgetting I was currently in nothing more than jeans and a bra. Once I realized I pulled away, averting my gaze and turning ten million shades of red.
"I-I...um...s-sorry."
Frank's face was just as bright red as my own and he scratched the back of his neck nervously.
"It's okay. Don't worry about it. I'll just go and uh....find you that shirt now."
"Y-Yeah."
After Frank left I wrapped a sheet around my torso and wallowed in my embarrassment until he returned just a few minutes later with a shirt in hand.
"Here you go. Mikes said you could borrow this one."
I took the shirt and slipped it over my head before examining myself in the mirror. It wasn't until then did I realize what shirt Frank had given me.
"Frankie, are you sure Mikey said I could borrow this shirt?"
"Yep. Why?"
I shrugged. "He doesn't even let you wear his favorite Anthrax shirt."
"Yeah I know but that's the one he gave me. He said it would fit you best."
Just then Mikey popped his head into the room.
"I told you that one would look best." Mikey grinned.
"Thanks Mikey." I grinned back.
"No problem. We've got to get going now. Are you guys almost ready?"
"Yep." Frank answered and I nodded in agreement.
"Gerard and I are going to ride with Ray and Chris. What about you guys?"
"I plan on drinking so I don't know." Frank frowned.
"Well, obviously I can't drink so I can drive us home." I offered. Frank nodded his agreement.
"Okay. Well I guess we'll see you two there then. Don't be too late." Mikey called as he left.
"You ready?" Frank questioned.
"Yeah."
Ten minutes later I was sat in the passenger's side of Frank's car and we were on our way to our destination.
"So whose house is this party at?"
Frank shot me a mischievous grin. "It's a surprise."
"Ugh! I hate surprises."
"You'll like this one. Trust me." He winked.
"If you say so." I muttered. Frank only chuckled in response.
"Hey Frankie?"
"Yeah?"
"What about the baby?"
"What about her?"
"I am sure your friends are going to be curious about the pregnant chick tagging along behind you."
"Most of them already know." He shrugged.
"What?!"
"What? I am not ashamed of our daughter plus they are my friends. Why wouldn't I tell them?"
"It's not that. It's just...I don't know. I'm going to feel really awkward, I guess."
"Don't worry about it so much. They are all genuinely happy for us. I promise you that everything will be just fine."
"Okay."
Twenty minutes later we pulled into a driveway lined with what looked like dozens of expensive looking cars. I could feel knots forming in the pit of stomach and my heartbeat began to increase. Music could be heard blaring throughout the rather large looking home before us.
I jumped when I felt a hand curl around my own.
"Relax Mel. I assure you that you are going to love these people." I only nodded in response.
Frank exited his side of the car and came around to mine where he offered me a hand. I took it and we began the walk toward the house. Frank wrapped an arm around my waist and rubbed gently at my side. I felt the tension began to leave my body.
"Wait, are we pretending to be together or are we just friends?"
"Nah. We're just friends tonight." He smiled.
"Oh. Okay."
For some reason I felt myself frowning and a pang of sadness in my gut but I quickly shook it off and plastered what I hoped was a believable smile on my face. I only hoped this night would go smoothly and with any luck quickly.
I know this one sucks. I am sorry guys but I promise the next chapter has some drama in it. I have already started on it and I am almost done. Hopefully, I can get it finished tonight and have it up sometime later but if not it should be up tomorrow.
