Dumbledore's Final Trick

five years ago you arrived at Hogwarts, neither as happy or as well nourished as I would have liked, but you were alive. You were not a pampered prince but as normal a little boy as I could have hoped for under the circumstances. Thus far my plan was working well.
This statement proves that "Manipulative dumbledore" is not just a cliché it was almost certainly the right answer.Author's response
Thanks for the review - I added a new footnote that may answer your concern.Dumbledore's Final Trick

This was just nifty. I appreciated the idea of 'putting the safety on' just ahead of the trio in the first year, though he might have actually had McGonagall assisting him in some way. More importantly, I would think keeping Harry and Riddle apart would have been the smarter plan, but this works as a 'had to shoot from the hip' answer to the argument.
I love the 'generic rebellious girlfriend'- it puts a nice bow on the interchangeable pairing situation in non-Harmony Independent!Harry fics.
Some mention should be made about the times Albus was away from the castle and unable to aid Harry directly, which would be neatly summed up as "Harry, I actually am a busy man even without you to worry about."
As for the final two words: it's either "Teach me." or "Obliviate us." For some reason, that moment reminds me of the first Men in Black movie, but it arrives too fast in the story- if you edit it, spend a couple paragraphs where Harry mulls it over.
Just my thoughts. Thanks for writing this.Author's response

Threatening someone with violence is abuse (and is recognized as domestic violence), the way the Dursley's talk about Harry and his parents (calling them freaks etc.) is abuse, feeding him a tin of soup a day during the holidays (I think it was between first and second year) was abuse and, if the books had been more realistic, would have made Harry quite sick. Locking him up is abuse and, if there had been a fire, could have been deadly.
Whilst I enjoyed your story I am rather disturbed by your idea that there was no abuse.Author's response
I did not say that there was no abuse; nevertheless, I appreciate your feedback.Dumbledore's Final Trick

You did miss that Harry was used to dodging frying pans, which means it happened with some frequency. Obviously, Dumbledore would have had no clue, as Miss Figg lived blocks away. Still it did happen as evidence by canon. BTW I would note it is Physical Abuse even is the swing misses.Dumbledore's Final Trick

After your story, I HATE Dubledore even more. His last plan, to obliviate Harry and his girlfriend if he does not do what Albus wants, is the final evil.
