Both Jackie and Sam now sat down at the neighborhood park on one of the benches.
"So,what did you mean by that?",Jackie asked breaking the silence.
"What?",he asked.
"You left.",she repeated his words.He stayed silent for a long moment making her look over to him.He kept his eyes away from her,keeping quiet asif thinking."Don't want to say?",she finally asked.
"Not really.So,where'd you move to?",he asked.She didn't notice how fast she changed the subject and simply shrugged.
"New York.I hated it there.Unfriendly and everything was by the fast lane.I missed it here.",she answered.
"You don't like it fast and unquestioned?",he asked.
"No.I like it slow and questionable.",she said with a small laugh.She looked away to a few kids going down the slide.
It reminded her of Bonita.
"So,how you doing so far?",he asked.
"Everything's cool.I kinda screwed up the first day at school.But everything's awesome now.I have alot of friends and I met up with some old ones.Like you.",she said,turning her head towards him.
"Cool.Well,I have to be somewhere right now.I'll see you-"
"Hello,Sam."
They both looked up to see a girl and boy standing there with a huge smile.Well,not the girl.
Jackie once again stared in awe.The two people standing before her were also beautiful.
The guy had blonde,spiking hair with dark eyes.Tall and muscular as Sam.The girl was also tall and fit.She had long,dark hair with the most craziest green eyes.
"Thought I said to meet down at the warehouse.",Sam said standing up.
"We got tired of waiting.Who's the girl?",the girl asked turning her eyes to Jackie.
Jackie gave a smile and stood up as well.But the unknown girl pushed Jackie back down and with much force.
Jackie couldn't help but let out a grunt as her back meeting the bench with such force.
"Did anybody tell you stand up?",the girl yelled.
"Lin.",the unknown guy said staring at her in disbelief.
"Just what the hell do you think you're doing?",Sam asked giving her a small shove.
"She has the nerve to try and confront me.",Lin yelled pointing down at Jackie.
Jackie stared in both shock and fear at the girl before her.
"That was way too harsh.She was probably only going to say hi.",the guy said.
"Lin,go and do something.",Sam said pointing away from them.The Lin girl stared at Sam for a long moment before walking away.
"Sorry about that,person.",the guy said.
"Umm,it's okay?",Jackie more questioned unable to say anything else.
"Ignore Lin.She's always mad for some reason.",Sam said holding out his hand at Jackie.Jackie hesitated at first but grabbed his hand and stood up.
But at the moment her fingers brushed his skin,she felt cold chills go down her spine.
"Umm,it's okay.",Jackie said.
"She's always mad when she sees you with another girl.Coincedence?",the guy said with a roll of his eyes.
"Well,I think I'll go now.",Jackie said starting to make her way away from the two guys.
"Jackie!"
She stopped and turned around.Sam stood there staring at her with eyes that showed sign of something.She just didn't know what.
"Yeah?",Jackie asked.
"Glad to see you're back.",Sam called.With that,he started to walk away.His friend waved a bye and quickly followed after him.
Jackie simple stood there staring at Sam's back as he walked away.She could not help but have thoughts of just how different he was from when she left.
Especially when he said'You Left' or when she touched his hand to get up.Especially the stare he had just given her.
It was as if he was hiding something.Something that may be too dangerous for her to find out.
Jackie yawned as she looked over to the clock.Right no time,it turned from 8:59 to 9:00.
"Jackie,lights out.",her mother called.
"Alright!"
Jackie turned to turn off her light on the nightstans,but her face was inches away from Bonita's suddenly.
"Ah!",Jackie screamed jumping back,and predictably hitting the wall with her head.
"Sorry,did I scare you?",Bonita asked.
"Kinda!",Jackie exclaimed rubbing her head.
"Sorry.Again.Anyways!Have you thought about it?",Bonita said.
"About what?",Jackie said getting off the bed to walk to the door and close it.
"About being my mom."
Jackie froze for a slight moment before closing the door.She turned back towards Bonita and gave her a look pf pity.
"I'm sorry,Bonita.",Jackie whispered.
Bonita bit her lip,staring at Jackie for a minute or two.Then Bonita let out a loud sigh.
"Well,I guess I had to know you were going to say no.Everybody always does.",Bonita said looking down.
"How many people have you asked?",Jackie asked curiously.
"Only you so far.",Bonita said.Jackie fell over a bit,but regained her balance.
"Bonita,I really am sorry.",Jackie said walking towards her.
"It really is okay.I'll go find somebody else.",Bonita said.
Jackie watched as she started to walk...towards the window?
"Wait!",Jackie stopped her.Bonita turned towards her,eyes filled with hope.
"Yeah?",Bonita whispered.
"I can't be your mom.",Jackie told her.Bonita nodded and looked down.But Jackie continued,"But I am pretty sure being some kind of friend won't hurt."
Bonita looked to Jackie,as if thinking.
"So,you'll be my friend?",Bonita asked.
"Yeah.That is if you like the idea.",Jackie offered.
Bonita then broke out into a smile and started to jump and laugh.
"Jackie?!",her mother called out a few seconds later.
"Umm,sorry,mother.Just excited to go to school tomorrow.Whoo!",Jackie covered.
She made her way to Bonita,carried her up in her arms,and walked over to the bed.She sat Bonita down and then sat down beside her.
"You have to remember that I have a mom and dad down there.They won't be so excited to see I have an unknown kid in my room.",Jackie warned.Bonita nodded and slapped her hand over her mouth.
"Well,I guess you can sleep here tonight with me.If you have nowhere else to go.",Jackie said.
"Yay-"
Bonita started to yell but Jackie slapped her hand over her mouth.Bonita moaned in pain and Jackie quickly said her apologies but reminded her to be quiet.
"Alright,take off your shoes and let's get to bed.",Jackie said.Bonita listened to her and quickly got comfortable into bed.Jackie turned off the lights and got into bed pulling the cover over them.
She turned towards Bonita,and Bonita turned towards her.
"Do you believe in vampires?",Bonita whispered.Jackie sighed.
"I don't know.Never thought about it.",Jackie whispered back.Bonita nodded and suddenly got closer hugging Jackie.
Jackie couldn't help but smile and hug the girl back.
She didn't know who Bonita was.What Bonita was.
But she knew Bonita meant no harm.She just wanted a home.
She wanted someone to love her.
Jackie let out a yell as thunder rumbled loudly outside.She lookedo ut her window to see a rainstorm going on.
She looked over to see Bonita sleeping soundly with small breaths.
She then noticed sweat covered her body.She wiped it away from her face and then noticed a pair of feet standing at the door.
She followed the feet up the legs,the body,the neck,to the face.
"Sam?",Jackie whispered.
Suddenly,thunder rumbled and she jumped making her look to the window.She turned back to Sam,but there was no Sam.
She looked around the room in fear.
"Sam?",Jackie called out.
No answer.There was nobody but Bonita and her.
She closed her eyes,and her hands cover her face.
"Sam.",she whispered.She took a moment before she lied back down.
Sam had a secret.Why did he have a secret?
What was that secret?
"So,what did you mean by that?",Jackie asked breaking the silence.
