Memories of A Fallen Angel

Zidane was having a dream. Nothing unordinary about that, everybody dreams. But this was certainly no ordinary dream.
In his dream, there was a young man sitting in a large library. He was fast asleep, his head resting on the table. There was a book held limply in his hands which were also on top of said table. Zidane would not have been particularly unnerved by this, except for the fact that the man asleep was actually Kuja.
His silver hair was flipped across his angelic face. His features that were usually contorted in hatred and anger now rested in complete peace and harmony.
Across the other side of the library, a raven-haired teenage girl strode across to where Kuja was sleeping. Zidane recognized the girl instantly as Dagger.
"Excuse me, Miss?" she said softly to the sleeping man.
Zidane wasn't sure whether he should laugh or be angry, so he stifled a giggle and clenched his fist.
Kuja didn't move but kept his breath still, soft and even - a signal that he was still deep in slumber.
"Miss, I'm sorry but the library is closing now, please wake up," Dagger pressed on.
'Why does this feel familiar?' Zidane wondered.
This time, Kuja stirred. He moved his fingers and mumbled something incoherent before falling asleep again.
"Is something wrong, Garnet?"
It was Queen Brahne. She stepped down the steps; with rather surprising grace for someone of her size.
"This woman...The scholars told me that she's been here all day. Now the library is closing and she will not wake up," Dagger replied stepping aside, allowing her mother to see who she was talking about.
Queen Brahne laughed. "What's so funny, Mother?" Dagger enquired, feeling slightly hurt.
"Oh my dear, it's not your fault. This 'woman' is actually a man," she giggled, quite lost for breath. Dagger frowned, "But he's wearing make-up! And his hair..."
"I know, quite the pretty boy isn't he?" Brahne turned around and tapped Kuja on the nose with her fan.
"Kuja sweetie, wake up," she commanded. Kuja lazily opened his eyes.
"Oh, it's you..." he mumbled. He sat up and carefully rubbed his eyes so as not to smudge his mascara.
"Kuja, I take it that you have not yet met my daughter, Princess Garnet?" Brahne gestured towards her daughter with intent. Kuja shook his head.
To be honest, he wasn't all that bothered. She looked far too headstrong and arrogant for his liking.
"It's a pleasure," she said, bowing formally.
'Damn, why does everybody act so formal and uptight? Don't they ever get the urge to go crazy once in a while?'
Zidane jumped, he had just heard Kuja's thoughts in his own mind.
"Likewise I'm sure, Your Highness," Kuja replied, returning the bow.
The silver-haired mage couldn't help but notice that Garnet was staring at him.
'Nosy little... Do ya want a picture, it'll last longer!'
Although he knew it wasn't right, Zidane couldn't help but feel sorry for Kuja.
"I'm sorry, but I really must be going now. Places to go, people to see and all that," Kuja apologized, exiting the library quickly.
"What a strange man," Garnet couldn't help but mutter.
"Indeed he is," Brahne agreed. She picked up the book Kuja had been reading.
"How interesting," she murmured, looking at the title.
"What?"
"This book, it's about the history of Eidolons..."

Zidane woke up. Someone was calling his name.

AN: This story is set whilst Ziddy is unconscious on disc 3. This is supposed to be one of Kuja's memories, so I hope it makes sense!
