Slamming the stiff, heavy oak door behind me, I entered the home I shared with my father, who was work a late shift tonight. My parents split when I was about ten years of age and I grew up in England with my mother. At age 15 my father was offered a job in New Jersey and after several years of wanting to leave the country he gladly accepted. I decided to go with him because it just simply felt like the right thing for me to do, of course I missed my mother but with emails and international calls, it wasn't difficult to stay deeply in touch.
I dropped my school bag by the front door and ran upstairs to my bedroom. Flinging the door open I collapsed on to my bed, a regular routine for me after a long day at school. My bedroom wasn't anything special, it was an 'L' shaped room, with white walls and a sandy brown carpet. It obtained simple furniture such as a single bed that was quite close to the floor, a bedside table, a wardrobe, a trunk, cd rack and a dressing table. I attempted to make my room more cosy by covering it in posters and pictures, I even had several collages up I had made, I'd also chucked up a few fairy lights in a bid to give my room personality.
After several minutes of getting comfortable in my bed, I reached into the pocket of my ripped, slouchy fit jeans to take out my mobile phone and check the time, it read 3:50. I assumed that Frank's show begun at about eight 'o' clock but we'd probably be there for seven as I'm sure Gerard and Mikey would want to hang with him for a bit before. I think they felt like they were part of the band when we would hang out with Pencey Prep backstage. I had three hours before Mikey and Gerard would pick me up and decided to spend them in a very girly manor, I was going to take a shower, put on warm pyjamas and order pizza.
After ordering my pizza I removed my clothes in a disorganised fashion and headed to the bathroom. I got out of the shower after about ten minutes of shower gel, shampoo and conditioner and wrapped myself in a towel and headed for my room. After finishing the general deodrent and cream routine, I chucked on some old Christmas pyjamas and that was when I heard the bell ring. Assuming it was my pizza, I hurried to find my purse and ran to open the door. I was quite taken aback to find it was a rather well dressed Frank at my door-step rather, then a spotty teenager delivering pizza.
"Well you look pleased to see me," said Frank smirking at me, making me blush heavily.
"Sorry," I replied hastily "It's not you, I was just expecting a pizza that's all." I gestured for him to come and he followed me into my living room. The living room was again rather plain, with white walls. It was an open plan room so the kitchen was also visible, again there was sandy brown carpet and bog standard furniture. Two blue fabric sofa's and a black leather chair, a television, coffee table and the standard kitchen furniture. I sat down awkwardly on the largest sofa and Frank then followed suit.
"So, um what bring's you over here?" I asked rather shyly, still shocked by his presence,
"I hadn't seen you in a while, I wanted to hang for a bit before tonight's show and after party" he replied with a soft smile.
At that moment although I was a little surprised by the mention of an after party as I had not been told this by Mikey, I took Frank's appearance in, the way his dark hair contrasted against his skin, his many piercings. Then I took in his clothes, he was wearing a pair of tight black jeans with rips in the knee's and a white button down shirt, I must admit he looked rather handsome.
"Anna, back to earth" Said Frank tapping my nose with his index finger giggling slightly. I blinked thoroughly from the skin on skin contact and replied with
"Sorry and oh that's, um, very nice of you Frank."
He stretched his arms out at this point so one was slightly rested on my shoulder. I was slightly uncomfortable but chose to say nothing.
"S'Okay, oh and nice outfit, I think you should wear it tonight" said Franking giving me a playful wink.
"Shut up," I replied chuckling slightly, "I wasn't expecting a visitor, just an acne covered teenager delivering pizza!"
Frank laughed at this, saying I had harsh views on pizza boys, which also made me laugh. The bell rang moments later and this time it was the pizza boy and to my surprise he wasn't covered in acne. I payed him the money and took the pizza up to my room with frank following close behind. I sat on the bed and turned on the stereo, the sound of Nirvana came on quietly.
"I'd offer you pizza but it's got meat on it, sorry" I apologised knowing Frank was a vegetarian. I watched him take in my room, he'd never been up here before and he was looking around closely.
"No problem, ate before I came, nice room by the way," he said examining the posters before joining me on the twin sized bed, "you have good taste in music."
We discussed music for a while after that, different bands we shared a liking for, which turned out to be a lot. We talked about different singers, songs and genre's and I found myself getting quite comfortable around Frank which was strange for me. After I'd finished my pizza I put the box on the floor for the time being, then suddenly Frank took one of my hands. We were both sat Indian style facing each other on my bed, he stroked my hand back and forth lightly, as we both watched. He looked into my eyes and said "I don't know if you know this or not but I think your such a nice person Anna, really I do," still holding my hand and looking into my eyes.
"Thanks" I whispered, not really sure what to reply to such a nice but unexpected comment and I was also extremely uncomfortable.
"And I know you've had a rough time and if you ever need anything, someone to listen to you, talk to, company, a friend, or more I'm here for you," He said letting go of my hand and stroking my cheek, " I'm always here for you."
I stared back him, taken aback by how nice he was being and all these acts of affection, I barely muttered another thank you. He suddenly leaned in quickly and pecked me very lightly on the lips, it was a nice kiss, warm and firm. Before I could say anything he got up from the bed and said "It's six thirty, I better get going, I'll see you later at the show," he flashed me warm smile before exiting my bedroom and I heard the front door shut and I was left confused and alone in my room.
Frank had just kissed me and told me he was always there for me and I didn't know how to feel. I didn't really know him that well to say if I liked him like that or not, I wasn't even sure if I was happy or not that he kissed me. Frank was nice, granted, he was also fun and happy person to be around and he accepted me into their friendship group pretty quickly. I pondered all this as I sat unmoving on my bed, I wondered want he meant by 'or more'. I sighed heavily, knowing I'd have to avoid Frank tonight until I sorted out my feelings. I looked at my mobile again for the time and it read quarter to seven and I knew I'd have to start getting ready, as I had a long, unpredictable night ahead of me.
