Frank's POV
Saturday came much quicker than I would have liked. As excited as I was for the twins' fifth birthday I was as equally nervous for both Secret and myself to come face to face with the woman I had cheated on her with. I knew it would be hard for both of us but it would be especially painful for Secret. I knew just seeing the woman's face would hurt her but seeing the protruding stomach I am sure the woman now possessed would be ten times more devastating.
I stood before the full length mirror in our bedroom and checked myself over one last time. I wore a pair of ripped jeans, a black Misfits tee, and my red Vans. I ran my fingers through my messy hair one last time and sighed.
I made my way down the stairs and into the living room where Secret was packing a bag for the twins. I wrapped my arms around her waist from behind, pulling her against my chest and resting my chin on her shoulder. I splayed my hands out over her slightly protruding stomach and she leaned back into my chest, covering my hands with her own.
"You look beautiful, baby." I murmured in her ear, placing a gentle kiss to her neck.
"Thank you. Are you almost ready?"
"I am ready when you are. Where are the twins?"
"In their room playing. Let me finish packing their bag and we can go."
"Okay. I'll get the twins and put them in their safety seats."
"Yeah, okay. I'll be out in a few minutes." I nodded, hugging her tightly before releasing her.
I made my way up the stairs and into the twins' room. They were playing quietly in the middle of the room.
"Hey guys."
"Daddy!" Rayne squealed as she leaped up from her spot on the floor and hugged my legs.
I scooped her into my arms and she wrapped her tiny arms around my neck, hugging me tightly. I squeezed her against my chest and planted a kiss to the top of her head.
"I love you, Daddy."
"I love you too, baby girl."
"Daddy, is it time for our birfday party now?" Lyric questioned, tugging on the hem of my shirt.
I ruffled his hair before scooping him up with my free arm.
"Yep, buddy. It's time to go."
"Yay!" The twins cheered and I chuckled.
I carried them down the stairs and outside to the car where I strapped them into their safety seats. I slid into the driver's seat and Secret joined us a minute later.
"Okay, let's go."
I started the car and backed out of the drive slowly then put the car in drive and headed for the park. Secret fidgeted nervously in her seat next to me so I grasped her hand and laced our fingers together. I kissed her knuckles and she smiled weakly at me.
"It's okay, baby, we'll get through this."
"I know, Frankie. I'm just nervous."
"Me too, Seek, me too." I sighed
The closer we got to the park the more nervous I became. My stomach churned anxiously and I gnawed nervously at my lip. By the time I pulled into the parking lot of the park I felt as if I would barf my whole fucking stomach up. My heart felt as if it would beat out of my fucking chest. I heard Secret sigh heavily and our eyes met. I leaned over and kissed her lips gently then pulled back and rested my forehead against hers.
"No matter what happens I love you, Secret Leigh Mason. Don't you ever fucking forget it, okay?" She nodded.
"I love you so fucking much, Frank."
I pressed my lips to hers once more before we parted. I unbuckled Lyric from his seat and scooped him into my arms while Secret got Rayne. We carried the twins to the picnic area where most of our friends were already gathered around setting out food and drinks.
"Unca Gee-Gee!" Lyric squealed as he squirmed out of my grasp and into Gerard's arms.
"Hey there, punk. Are you excited for your party?"
"Yep. Did ya get me a present, Unca Gee-Gee?"
Gerard chuckled. "Of course I did but you can't open it until it's time for presents."
"Okay. Can I go play, Daddy?" I nodded and he squirmed out of Gerard's arms and ran toward the swing sets. Rayne quickly left Mikey's arms to join her brother.
"They have gotten so big so fast." Mikey sighed.
"I know. It seems just like yesterday I was holding them for the first time." I sighed.
"So, are you nervous about this whole meeting thing?" Ray questioned.
I glanced toward Secret who was sitting at a nearby picnic table talking to Nikki, Alyx, Brooklyn, and Kyndall.
"The truth?" He nodded.
"I'm scared shitless."
Pete chuckled and slung an arm around my shoulders.
"Relax, Frankie, we'll get through this together."
"I know. It's just...I know seeing this girl again is going to hurt Secret and that's the last thing I want right now. Seeing this girl is going to make it real. I mean, I know it's real I just...I don't know. I guess this is going to be like finally facing the problem rather than ignoring it."
"Don't worry, Frankie, we are here for you." Bob squeezed my shoulder and everyone nodded their agreement.
An unfamiliar car pulled up and my breath caught in fear and nervousness. I let out a long sigh of relief as Brendon, Gabe, Ryan, and William emerged from the vehicle. Patrick squeezed my shoulder and shot me a reassuring smile.
"Hey guys." Brendon called and everyone following echoed.
"Hey." I waved.
"Where are the munchkins?" Gabe questioned.
"Swing set." I nodded in that direction.
Gabe, William, and Ryan made their way over to the twins.
"You nervous, Frankie?"
"Practically shitting myself, Bren."
"I've got your back, dude. You know everyone here will support you through this."
"I know. It's not me I'm worried about, it's Seek."
Brendon cast a sad look in Secret's direction. "Yeah." He muttered.
"She'll be okay. Secret is stronger than we give her credit for." Patrick smiled.
"Let's try to have fun, guys. This is the twins' day, okay?" Mikey suggested. I nodded.
"I only ask one thing of you guys. Please don't blame Zacky for this, okay?"
"Of course not. He's our friend, too." Gerard smiled.
"Thanks." I smiled back.
As we made our way toward the girls my phone buzzed in my pocket and I pulled it out to see it was Zacky calling.
"Hey Zacky." I answered.
"Hey Frank. I'm about five minutes away. I just wanted to give you fair warning."
"Thanks man. I'll see you in a few."
"Bye."
"Bye."
Sure enough, five minutes later Zacky pulled into the lot and made his way toward us. He was followed by a short, dark-haired girl who wore a look of fear and shame.
"Hey guys."
A chorus of 'Hey Zacky' echoed around us.
"Do you want to do this in private?" Zacky questioned. I nodded.
"Gee, would you mind keeping an eye on the twins?"
"Of course not. Take all the time you need."
"Thanks."
I laced my fingers with Secret's as Zacky led us to the other side of the park. We found an empty picnic table and gathered around it.
"First off, I want to apologize to you, Secret. I am so sorry for getting Frank involved in this mess and I wish I could go back and change things but I can't and I will forever regret it."
"Zacky, this isn't all your fault. Frank is more than capable of making his own decisions and mistakes."
"Fair enough. This is Holly. Holly this is Secret and I am sure you remember Frank.."
"I..um...h-hi." The girl, Holly, mumbled quietly as she kept her gaze lowered.
I actually felt a pang of sorrow for the girl because she hadn't known I was engaged or had children or that Zacky had a girlfriend. She was, by no means, an innocent bystander in the situation, only ignorant to the truth of everything.
"I, um...I-I....I-I'm s-sorry. I k-know that doesn't m-make up for it b-but I truly am."
I remained quiet, not knowing exactly what to say. I was surprised when Secret squeezed and then released my hand in order to place it over Holly's hand. Holly's head shot up in shock and her eyes widened as salty tears trailed down her tanned cheeks.
"Holly, I would be lying if I said it was nice to meet you but I want you to know this isn't entirely your fault either. In fact, you hold the least blame in all of this. You had no idea Frank is engaged and that Zacky has a girlfriend."
"Ex-girlfriend." Zacky muttered bitterly.
"I can't tell you it's okay because this situation sucks but I can promise you that no matter what happens you won't have to raise this baby alone. These are two of the most caring and genuine guys I know and I know that whoever the father is will love this child and care for this child."
"She's right." I finally spoke. "Just because we made a mistake doesn't mean this baby has to suffer."
"I-I...I don't know what to say except thank you. I know I am the last person you ever want to see again but it's nice to know you are such good and caring people." Holly murmured. "I promise not to interfere with your lives again until the baby is born. It's due in August. The twenty-first. If it's okay we can do the paternity tests then and find out for sure. After that I will disappear from your lives and you don't have to ever see me again unless you choose to see your child. If you don't want anything to do with him or her I will completely understand. I don't want or expect money. I just can't live my life without knowing who fathered my child."
"And we couldn't live with ourselves knowing either of us fathered and then abandoned a child." Zacky stated and I nodded my agreement.
