He felt restless. Everything had to be perfect.
The lights.
The music.
Their clothes.
Everything had to be perfect because tonight was their night.
Theirs, and no one else's.
He chuckled nervously as he fixed his tuxedo and checked himself once more in the mirror.
He was tiny, and he'd had to roll up the sleeves of his jacket a couple of times.
Prom night.
The most important night ever.
The night he would've remembered forever.
And it would've been perfect. Magical.
The sound of a car pulling up in front of his house made his heart beat so fast.
Is it--
A nock on his bedroom door.
"...Frankie?"
His mom.
"It's time to go."
He couldn't hide the widest of smiles blossoming on his lips.
He quickly checked himself, the shoes, the jacket, was his perfume good enough? Was his hair OK?
OK.
Here it goes.
He opened the door, nearly tripped down the stairs.
He was there.
The tuxedo he was wearing was horrible - turquoise blue - and he'd had the brilliant idea of wearing an orange tie with it.
What in God's name were you thinking.
Gerard Way smiled.
"Hey."
"Hey, Gee."
"Ready, little guy?"
No.
He was shaking. Terrified.
But he nodded, and smiled.
