"Yo." I heard Frank shout from down the hall.
I was getting things from my locker, relaying the awkward intervention with the Principal.
I clenched my teeth and slammed my locker. I just wanted to go home.

"Why'd you say that to Jesse?" I asked Frank as he caught up to me.
"You mean, why did I lie to Jesse?"

My face got hot, then drained of color.
"It was-it was a lie... wasn't it?" Frank stuttered.

I looked down at the green school carpet, ashamed of doing anything else.
Frank's eyes widened, probably for the third time today.
"So I actually... you really..."
"Yes, Frankie." I interrupted.

I turned and walked away, leaving Frank standing alone in the hallway.
