Where I'm From

by nightwishcobhc 0 reviews

A little summary about my life in a poem. I wrote this for English class and my teacher said it's the best she's gotten.

"Where I'm From"
By Kendra Rosenberry

I'm from a broken family
From an omitted father and a devoted mother
Chronic arguing and shouting
Where is the love?
I'm from a home where being strong is the only option
From abusive words that bruise my heart
Blink away the tears that stain my milky white cheeks
I'm from a home where I'm the second parent
From where my father's responsibilities, get pushed off on me
How can I live the life of a teen?
When I feel like the second mother
I'm from a home of solitude
From being shut out of society
The visions of freedom, taste sweet upon my lips
This vision gives me that slight chance of hope
I'm from where there is no light
From where all your dreams are crushed in a split second
The dark clouds make it cold and depressing
I'm from a father who is devoted to alcohol
From the stench of alcohol to the last bit of nothing
The family is put last before his alcohol
I'm from where my mom is my supporter
From where we work as a team with two little children
Without her, both roles would be pushed off on me
I'm from a broken family
All the years I've wished for a happy family
But I realize that is far-fetched from my reality
This is where I'm from
