Melody's POV
I woke with a smile as I felt two hands splay to either side of my bulging belly and light stubble rub gently over the stretched skin just below my navel. I hummed happily when Frank's soft, warm lips grazed my lower abdomen, receiving a gentle kick in return.
"Good morning, baby girl." Another, harder kick to my lower stomach. "Daddy loves you. We are going to have fun today. I am taking Mommy to see Uncle Pete's band and we are going to spend some time with your crazy Uncle Pete." I smiled, cracking my eyes open to see the top of Frank's head. I had never seen anything more adorable than when Frank talked to my stomach, to our daughter.
"Only twelve more weeks to go, baby girl. I cannot wait until the day I finally get to lay eyes on you for the first time." Frank nuzzled his face into my stomach, his stubble tickling the sensitive skin.
I tried to hold in a giggle but it escaped and Frank's head snapped up. He grinned devilishly up at me before rubbing his face back and forth over my belly, causing me to burst into giggles and squirm beneath him. He laughed and I squealed when he blew a raspberry against my stomach, causing our baby to jump in surprise.
"Okay, Okay! I give up!" I squealed. He laughed, laying his head back against my stomach and sighed in content.
"Morning, Mel. Are you ready for our first day of fun?" I nodded.
"Yeah. I'm a little worried about my exams, though." I frowned but he grinned widely.
"Don't worry about it. I was worried about that, too but I got up early and talked to a chick at the main office of your homeschool program. I told them we would be out of town next week and you would be unable to take your tests."
"Did they agree to put it off?"
"Not at first but with a little charm and a lot of bribing I was able to get your tests put off until the following week. So, now you have a whole week to study." I raised a questioning eyebrow at him.
"Frank Iero, what did you bribe this chick with?" He shot me an innocent look before smirking. I groaned. "Frank, what did you do?"
"Well, the good news is you have an extra week to study. The bad news is you won't be sitting front row at the concert tonight." My mouth fell open in shock.
"Frankie, you gave our tickets away?" He nodded.
"Oh. Well, okay. I suppose it was worth it." I couldn't hide my disappointment. Frank laughed, nuzzling his face against my stomach.
"Mel, you ought to know I would never let you down. I talked to Pete and he said we could watch the show from side stage. Actually, he said he would feel better about that arrangement and that you shouldn't be in the crowd with crazy fans. For once, I agree with him."
"Awe. Thanks, Frankie. You're the best." He winked.
"I know, I know." I grinned as I smacked the top of his head. He feigned hurt, pretending to cry into my stomach. I rolled my eyes.
"Oh hush, you big baby." I teased as I ran my fingers through his soft hair. He hummed in response. "So, how did you manage to bribe this chick with Fall Out Boy tickets?"
"It's kind of funny, really. I was practically begging her and she laughed at me, jokingly saying the only thing that could make her put your tests off would be a ticket to see her favorite band in concert. She laughed harder when I told her I could probably arrange that."
"Let me guess, her favorite band is Fall Out Boy?"
"Well, no but Green Day isn't touring right now. Luckily, she loves Fall Out Boy, too which is lucky for us, huh?" I grinned.
"Yeah, I guess it is but how are you supposed to get these tickets to her?"
"She's meeting us for lunch." I shook my head, grinning.
"She has no idea who she is meeting for lunch, does she?" He wiggled his eyebrows.
"Nope." I laughed.
"The poor girl is probably going to have a heart attack when she finds out she's having lunch with Frank Iero and Pete Wentz."
"Maybe. Come on, let's get to packing. We have to meet Pete at noon and it's already a quarter after ten."
"Sounds good to me." I grinned as I slid from the bed.
Frank pulled a suitcase from his closet and began sifting through his clothes, pulling out the items he wanted. I followed suite, grabbing several pairs of jeans and tees, folding them and placing them neatly in the suitcase. I placed several pairs of socks and underwear on top as well as a few pairs of shoes. Frank placed his clothes in the suitcase before closing it and setting it aside.
"Come on, let's get something to eat and then you can shower before we leave." I nodded, following him into the kitchen.
"Morning, Mikey, Alicia."
"Good morning, guys. Are you excited, Mel?" Alicia questioned, patting the seat next to her. I nodded as I sat next to her.
"Yeah. I can't wait. This is going to be an amazing weekend."
"You better tell Pete I said to behave or I will kick his ass next time I see him." I laughed.
"I didn't know you and Pete are friends."
"Oh yeah, I've known Pete for a while. We dated for a little while but it never turned into anything. We were more like roommates, really."
"Wow. You really dated Pete?"
"Yeah. He's a crazy little fucker but he's the best friend you'll ever have."
"That's just crazy, though. I could never imagine dating someone as crazy Pete."
"No. You just fathered the baby of his twin." Mikey laughed out.
"I am not as crazy as Pete." Frank gasped. Alicia and I burst into giggles along with Mikey.
"What about the time Ray dared you to hide Gerard's coffee supply? You did it, didn't you?"
"Yeah, well.....Ray dared me to. Besides, his reaction was priceless."
"Exactly. That's the same thing as Pete stealing Patrick's hats. You two could be twins."
"Oh, shut up." Frank muttered in defeat.
"Here you go, ladies." Mikey chirped, placing plates in front of Alicia and myself. The smell of cheese toast and eggs greeted my nostrils.
"Thanks, Mikey."
"No problem."
Frank and Mikey grabbed their own plates and sat across from us. I drowned the conversation around me out as I ate, my mind wandering to what today might bring. I was practically buzzing with excitement by the time Frank called my name, tearing me from my thoughts.
"Mel. Mel?"
"Hmm?"
Frank chuckled. "Are you almost done eating? You still need to get a shower."
"Oh, um....yeah. Sorry." I shot him a sheepish smile before sliding away from the table and making my my to the bathroom.
I took a quick shower, dried and fixed my hair, and then dressed. I brushed my teeth and applied my makeup before returning to the living room where I found Frank and Mikey playing video games. Alicia laughed as she sat to the side, watching them play.
"Frankie?"
"Yeah?" He questioned, his eyes never leaving his game.
"I'm ready when you are."
"Yeah, yeah, just give me a minute." I laughed and joined Alicia on the couch.
"Those two are such nerds."
"Yeah, definitely but they're adorable nerds." Alicia laughed.
Frank shot up from his seat, cheering in victory and successfully startling the fuck out of Alicia and myself.
"Fuck yeah! In yo face, Mikes!"
"Yeah, yeah. Don't you have somewhere to be?" Mikey muttered.
"Awe. Don't be a sore loser, Mikes but yes, I do. Come on, Mel, we gotta get going."
Frank retrieved our suitcase from his room and we each hugged Alicia and Mikey before making our way out to his car. He shoved the suitcase in the trunk then hopped in the car and sped off toward our destination. About five minutes down the road he pulled into a parking lot and cut the engine.
"I'll be right back, okay?"
"Where are you going?"
"You'll see." He winked, stepping out of the car and jogging around the corner to a store I couldn't see.
He returned just minutes later with a shopping bag which he placed in my lap as he reentered the car. I looked at him in confusion but he only grinned and motioned for me to open the bag so I did. Inside was a book which I soon discovered was a book filled with every possible baby name imaginable. My heart sort of melted in my chest as my fingers grazed the cover of the book.
"Frankie, you remembered."
"Yeah." He whispered. "I can't wait for us to look through it."
"Me either." I grinned.
"You can take a look now, see if there is anything you like." I bit my lip and hesitated before shaking my head.
"No. I want us to look at it together." He smiled.
"I'd like that."
I placed the book back in the bag and Frank placed it in the back floorboard of the car.
"Well, let's go. I don't want to endure Pete's wrath if we are late." He laughed. I quirked an eyebrow at him.
"Pete has a wrath?"
"Yep. A very annoying one." I laughed, shaking my head at the thought.
Frank started the ignition and began the drive to New York once again. I switched the radio on and the sounds of Nirvana drifted through the speakers. Frank sang along to Lithium as I watched the world outside pass by us in a blur of colors and sounds. I was startled out of my trance of passing colors when Frank slid his hand into mine, locking our fingers together and brushing his lips over my knuckles.
I turned my gaze on him and he smiled. My heart beat erratically against my ribcage, the thump thump thump echoing through my ears so loud I was sure he could hear it. If he did he said nothing. Turning back to the window, I hid a smile against my hand as he placed our entwined hands on the center console where they stayed for the remainder of our trip. A little while later Frank pulled into the parking lot of some restaurant and parked.
"Are you ready?"
"Yeah. What about the hotel?"
"Pete is taking care of it." He laughed. "Pete insisted on changing our room to a suite."
"Oh. Well, he didn't have to. I would have been perfectly fine with a regular room."
"Remember what I said about arguing with Pete and brick walls?"
"Uh..yeah?"
"Just don't argue with him. He doesn't take no for an answer." I laughed.
"Okay."
"Come on, he's probably already here." I nodded.
Frank finally let my hand go and I climbed from the car. He met me at the front and grasped my hand once again, leading us into the restaurant. Sure enough, Pete was already seated and waiting in a booth in a secluded area of the restaurant. Frank and I slid into the booth across from him.
"Glad you made it. It's nice to see you again, Melody."
"Hi Pete. Call me, Mel."
"Scoot over. I want to see my niece." I laughed but scooted closer to Frank so Pete could slide in next to us. He rubbed a hand over my stomach and received a kick in return. "Oh, wow. She packs a kick, huh?" Frank laughed.
"Oh yeah, man. I'm telling you she is gonna be a ninja when she grows up." Pete snorted.
"I fucking believe it, dude. So, how have you guys been since I last saw you?" I frowned but Frank squeezed the hand that was still firmly grasped in his own.
"Not bad. We've been doing Mel's schooling. She's got some big tests coming up soon." Pete wrinkled his nose.
"Man, I do not miss school one bit."
"I know. I definitely don't miss anything about high school. I paid my dues." Frank agreed.
"So, who's the chick that's meeting us here?"
"I don't know. I told her to ask for reservations for Green like you told me to." Frank shrugged. "I have no clue what she looks like but she should be here any minute now."
"Do you think she's hot?" Pete questioned. Both Frank and I snorted. "What? I'm curious." I rolled my eyes playfully.
"I guess you'll just have to wait and find out." Pete chuckled, poking me in the side.
"Smartass. You're starting to sound like a mini-Mikey Way." I shrugged.
"I learned from the best, I suppose."
"Oh, you got jokes?" Pete grinned, poking me in a particularly ticklish place, making me nearly jump into Frank's lap. Frank laughed, pulling me close and trying to protect me from Pete.
"Okay, okay. I'm sorry." I giggled and Pete stopped poking me. "Frankie, get him."
"Oh, no. I'm not getting dragged into this. I am way too ticklish."
Before anyone could respond a waiter appeared at our table.
"Excuse me. Your guest has arrived." The waiter bowed before stepping away, leaving a young woman in his place.
She was pretty. She had shoulder length blonde hair with chunks of brown in it, big blue eyes, and slightly tan skin. She stood before us gaping, seemingly having trouble speaking. Pete stood, offering the girl a seat. She sat still gaping between the three of us.
"Hi, I'm Pete. This is Frank and Melody." Pete smiled, offering her his hand to shake. She shook it gingerly, still in awe of what she was seeing. I couldn't blame her. I remember the first time I met both Frank and Pete.
"I-I...y-you're...I can't believe it. You're Pete Wentz and y-you're Fr-Frank Iero."
"It's nice to meet you...."
"Oh, sorry. My name's Cassie. It's n-nice to meet you."
"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you as well, Cassie." Frank greeted, shaking her hand as well.
"Hello, Cassie. My name is Melody. It's really nice to meet you." I smiled, greeting her with an outstretched hand. She shook it, smiling.
"I'm sorry. I don't mean to be so....starstruck but I just....I never expected this."
"I thought I would leave it a surprise." Frank grinned.
"So it was you I spoke with over the phone?"
"Yes, ma'am."
"Wow. That's just.....that's just crazy. I had no idea."
"So are you excited about the concert?" Pete questioned.
"You have no idea. I tried to get tickets to the show tonight but they were all sold out. This will be my first time attending a Fall Out Boy concert."
"Really? Well, I'm glad you could join us for this occasion. This is Melody's first Fall Out Boy concert as well." Pete grinned.
"Wow. Really? I thought since you were...you know, with these two you would have been to one." I laughed.
"Nope. I actually only met Pete a few weeks ago on New Year's Eve. I haven't met the rest of the band."
"Did you find someone to come with tonight?" Frank questioned.
"Yes. My little sister will be joining me only she doesn't know it yet. She's only fifteen but she loves your music. Actually, she loves both My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy. I didn't want to disappoint her if this turned out to be fake but she's going to be so excited when I call her." I smiled fondly, thinking of my own sister.
"What's her name?" Pete questioned.
"Her name is Leanna."
"Maybe we can make this an extra special concert for her." Pete grinned. Cassie's eyes widened in surprise.
"Really?"
"Oh yeah. I don't think she'll forget this night."
"Wow. Thank you."
The waiter returned a short time later and took our orders. We made comfortable small talk while we waited for our food and during our meal. Cassie seemed like a genuinely nice person and I enjoyed her company. I was pleasantly surprised at how kind she seemed. Once our meals had been finished off we paid and left the restaurant. It was then Cassie noted my bulging stomach.
"Oh wow. You're so cute. How far along are you?"
"Oh, um...about seven months." Frank gripped my hand in his, squeezing tightly as he whispered into my ear.
"It's okay, Mel. You don't have to be afraid to tell people. I'm not afraid anymore. I don't care if the whole world knows." I looked up at him with a questioning gaze.
"Are you sure? I don't want anything bad to happen if people find out."
"Nothing bad will happen." He smiled, reassuring me. I nodded, turning my focus back to Cassie.
"Have you found out what you are having?"
"Yeah." I smiled. "We are having a little girl." She smiled.
"That's so sweet. So, you two are together?" She questioned, motioning between Frank and myself.
"Oh, um...." Frank cut me off, stretching a protective hand over my abdomen.
"Yes." My head snapped in his direction but he only smiled.
"That is adorable. You two are so cute together." She gushed. I smiled.
"Thank you."
"Okay, Cassie, go call your sister and tell her the news. Take these passes with you and I will have your names put on the list so you can come watch sound check with Melody and Frank"
"I-I....wow. Thank you."
"It's no problem. I hope you and your sister have fun tonight."
"You have no idea how happy you have just made my sister." She smiled widely. We all smiled back at her.
"Go call her then. Sound check starts at two."
"Thank you so much. You really have no idea what this means to us."
All three of us shared a hug with Cassie before we parted ways for now.
I know this one is a little boring but the next one is most definitely not boring. (; It's almost finished and if I am able to finish it by tonight then I will have it up tonight. If not then it will be up tomorrow. :)
