Chapter 1: The world as we don't know it.

This is the story about the occurrences at the Okihara Springs resort in Japan, an out-of-the-way place set at the base of a cliff with a beach-front setting that spans a good 300-acre section of land that extends into the mountains towards the mainland. It follows the happenings of the tourists that come there to relax, with almost nothing out of the ordinary. Almost, that is to say because of the local wildlife that calls this expanse of land home year-round, tourists or not. You see, this version of earth had developed naturally in the ecosystem two types of animals, Male beast-types, and the more alluring femme fatalles that resemble the ideal feminine partner in every way, including sex appeal, overall physical appearances as well as a few perks that come with their natural evolutionary progression. Usually they are set apart by this and the possible pelt of fur and ears and a tail accordingly, as well as many aquatic types that mainly reside in the ocean. Either way, it doesn't take much to do entice a male with their charms given they constantly emit pheromones during their mating cycles (Namely the actual process) which takes place bi-annually during the summer and winter seasons. They come in just as many species and sub-species as regular animals of our world, and it is only legal to slay the male types for consumption of them for nutritional and dietary needs as they tend to be just a tad aggressive anyway and can be a nuisance if overpopulated in the area of towns and such. This has led to debate over whether if it is moral to do so, leading some people to assume the real reason is because nobody can bring themselves to slay their more innocent-looking female counterparts, Regardless of how conniving and manipulative they can be or not. They retain their intelligence throughout the mating cycle, even being able to speak local human dialects with little effort, all the better to lure either form of male into their warm embrace, and unlike our world where there are female humans, somehow through anomalies in the ecosystem and general evolution, here there are none! One would assume this as being a big problem, but this is as stated, merely an assumption as 'anthromorph' females can mate with any male on the planet, regardless of whether they are of the beast of human variety, although they tend to shy away from the human society realms such as heavily populated cities, feeling highly uncomfortable in such places, keeping to the forests and woodlands designated 'no-build' zones specifically for their area of abode, though it is not unheard of when they choose a partner as they tend to stay with them for life unless either of them come to the choice to split apart, though this is VERY rare (Gee, I wonder why?). The rate of birth with human males is roughly what it would normally be with a beast-type anthromorph male, a good 30% chance. Despite this, birth can and will happen, but this can be almost entirely avoided through the use of contraceptive medicinal applications, usually taking the form of a bi-annual pill. One thing of note however is that the type of child born depends solely upon the father of said child. Beast-type Male anthromorphs will produce like children while Human fathers will produce either a male human child or a female anthromorph child. When choosing a beast-type mate they pick a like anthromorph (Fox with fox, avian with like avian, etc.). However, there is always the possibility of a creature that doesn't quite follow either category, known as Lagians, and they in a sense suffer from the drawbacks of this due to the animalistic qualities taking over their mind during the mating season, thus making them seem mindless until their need to mate is satiated. The main story follows, as said, a few of the tourists' adventures at this popular getaway in all its glory, namely the three-week escapade of only two of them. There is Kaota Korin, the shy one of the two who is coming to the resort for the first time, and there is his friend from North America, Jim Seller who has quite a bit more experience with things like this. Oh, and one more thing about the resort... It has an interesting adopt-style system in order to avoid overpopulation in the resort itself that allows any one of the tourists that can handle it the opportunity to take a max of up to three of the females home with them. It is two days prior to the start of the summer mating season, and the two friends have just arrived at the gates of the entrance to the grounds of the facility...

"So Jim, tell me again... What is this place like?" Kaota asked nervously, his heart already nervously pounding in his ears at the thought of what he had asked to be told over and over for the past two hours during the trip to the coastal getaway. Jim sighed with slight aggravation, but decided to try to keep his friend calm.

"I already told you Kaota, the place is just there for relaxation purposes, you don't have to get involved with anything you're not prepared for..." Jim said reassuringly.

"What does that mean? Are you saying I'm unprepared for what's in here? I AM an adult you know... What are you doing?" Kaota asked in response to Jim rolling up the window on the large truck they were riding in.

"It's part of the rules, unless you've been signed in to the guest book you're not allowed to interact with the locals, alright? Just calmly roll up the window, 'K?" Jim said with a slightly mischievous grin. Kaota shrugged and did what he was told, catching a glimpse of what appeared to be a shadowy figure off in the distant woods the path they were on cut through, causing him to shrink anxiously down into the seat as best he could. After a few minutes they finally arrived at the welcome center and after an attendant came out to gather their belongings, they exited the vehicle to see a beautiful view of the coast.

"Wow, smell that air... Now are you glad you came, Kaota?" Jim said with a grin as Kaota stared in wonder at the virtually flawless view of the sea. His gaze flicked up and down what he could see of the beach where numerous tourists could be seen engaging in several types of activities, including sports and leisure type ones. That's when he got his first view of the wildlife he had heard so much about, seeing that most of them were either in the nude or close to it, ALL of them female anthromorphs with their partners. His breath seemed to stick in his throat and he forced himself to tear his gaze away, only to have it view upon a slightly covered female chest as he turned around, obviously one belonging to the attendant he had just seen come out of the welcome center.

"WHA-?!" He said in shock as he fell backward, tripping on a rock after desperately trying to back away.

"Ow-ow-ow-ow-ow...!" He said, rubbing his rear in pain.

"Oh, my... Are you alright, sir? I didn't mean to startle you, I'm terribly sorry..." He heard a gentle voice say, looking up to see a bear-type anthromorph holding out a hand to help him up. However in his daze he neglected to take it, instead getting up on his own with the words,

"Geez, is that how you say hello around here? Honestly..." He said as the bear merely smiled innocently.

"I'm sorry, I do suppose I shouldn't have been that close... Pardon me, my name is Amber, how do you, and welcome to Okihara resort!" She said sweetly, causing Kaota to get just a bit irritated. However Jim came over quickly to break it up saying,

"Hey Kaota, let's get registered so we can get down to our vacation, alright? Seriously, you already work on your stories way too much, you need to take a break every once in a while or you'll crater eventually!" Jim said as he realized what he'd said aloud, and Kaota's face grew even angrier.

"I told you not to tell anyone that! That does it, I'm leaving!" He said as Jim said something that made Kaota stop dead still.

"Alright, but the only way out is through the path we took to get here, and your safety is only guaranteed so far out there... Besides, you might get jumped..." He said with a chuckle, causing Kaota to turn around and scoot back to his buddy's side reluctantly.

"Fine, but this better not be another crackpot idea..." Kaota said grumpily.

"Don't worry, I promise you're gonna have the best time of your life, honest!' Jim said, holding up his fingers boy-scout style. Kaota merely snorted in reply, but followed Jim and Amber into the welcome center, his arms crossed in a huff.
