POV: Carl´s feelings during the Masquerade Ball

I pointed towards the odd couple that was Dracula and Princess Valerious.
But Van Helsing seemed to have already spotted the vampire within the twirling dancing crowd.
He straight went down the stairs and onto the dancefloor.
"Van Helsing, psssst....no, what are you doing?" I desperately whispered into his direction, but was not able to prevent him from walking.
What has gotten into the vampire hunter?
I could do nothing but watch while Van Helsing entered the dancefloor and locked eyes with the monster. He stood there like he was unable to move. Petrified by Dracula´s gaze.
Dammit, what could I do to avert a disaster?
