Chapter 5 - Kirrahs POV
“Omygosh, that’s so sweet of him!” Sarah said to me once Ezme had left. I just nodded in agreement, smiling.
There was a knock on the door down stairs. I got up to go answer the door. “Who could that be, ohmygosh Kirrah, it could be a murderer!” laughed Sarah.
“Ohmygod! I’m so scared now!” I laughed, “come with me?” we both smiled at each other.
“Of course darlin’, She drawled in a really bad fake American accent. We both burst into laughter as we walked down the stairs to see who was there.
I looked through the window to see Shaun leaning against the wall with a bunch of red roses in his hands. “Oh gosh, Sarah, go answer the door, I gotta get changed!” I said as I ran back up the stairs.
Oh god, I thought, what should I wear? Skinnys? no, I wore Skinnys today, And so on. I finally decided on a light dress, it was comfy, stylish and was good to do practically anything in. I quickly brushed my hair and went down stairs.
“Why hello there gorgeous,” Shaun said, staring straight into my eyes, “You wanna go on a picnic with me?”
I looked outside, it was pitch black, oh well this should be interesting. “Of course,” I said as I linked my arm through his, “Let’s go!”
. . . . .
Shaun led me to the beach, “Close your eyes,” he whispered to me, as he led me somewhere, what was going on? I wondered.
When he sat me down, I was expecting sand to be beneath me, but instead i felt something softer, more, fluffy, pillows? “Ok, you can look now,” He said as he lifted his hands away from my eyes.
I gasped at the beauty of what he had set up. Piles of fluffy pillows were heaped upon the large, soft blanket, flaming tiki torches surrounded us, beneath those were hundreds of candles, roses surrounded the blanket and rose petals were scattered across the mountains of pillows. The sweet scent of the roses filled my nose, the soft gentle sound of the rolling waves sounded in the distance and the warmth of Shaun’s hand holding mine, this night was going to be perfect.
. . . . .
Shaun looked beautiful in the fire light, well, he always looked beautiful, but now especially. His soft skin looked tanned because of the flickering torch flames, his hair glinted, and his smile flashed. We were lying down so close to each other, my head rested on his chest, his fingers brushing gently through my hair.
“So, um Kirrah, I’m not very good at asking this type of thing, so sorry if I say something wrong,” he stammered, he’s so cute, “Well, here it goes, will you be my girlfriend?”
“Of course I will! You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to hear you say that,” I said as I kissed him deeply.
. . . . .
The sun rose over the horizon, the torches and candles had burnt out long ago. My head was rested on Shauns chest, one of his hands across my waist, the other playing with my hair.
“Good morning beautiful,” he whispered in my ear.
“Yeah, it is a good morning, hopefully the first of many,” I said as I brought my lips to his. A good morning, I thought, the best I’ve ever had.
