Soubi watched as Ritsuka breathed steadily. In and out. In and out. There was no sound coming through the open window. Not traffic, not people. Everything was still.

Ritsuka's cat ears twitched slightly, and the young sacrifice sighed in his sleep. Calm. Relaxed.

Soubi tentatively reached a hand forwards, lightly pinching the end of one of those silk ears on top of the boy's head.

Hazy purple eyes opened to slits, and Soubi smiled softly down at the enigma occupying half of his bed. He leaned down, brushing his lips lightly over Ritsuka's slightly chapped ones.

"Stupid Soubi," Ritsuka muttered, before nestling deeper into his fighter's side.

Soubi smiled again, light.

Afternoons were his favourite time of day.
