I'm not as smart or as experienced as he is. I tag along, I look up to him. Maybe I'm like a child to him. But I follow him into dangerous places. He lets me. I wouldn't take a child into these places. I don't think he would either. He knows I'm an adult.
He found me, took me in, protects me. He's lonely when I'm not there, and comforted when I am. Maybe I'm a pet.
I wonder if a stray dog ever asks itself: does my presence mean enough to him to repay what he's done for me?
