Have you ever dreamed of being a firefly?
Glittering high in the night sky,
The escapist’s beating wings never flying shy.
Rays of moonlight dancing through your translucent wings,
The quiet hum filling the air with silent things,
That translucent pair looking like they’re made up of strings.
A body, thin and nimble,
Stealing the sky’s space with its swindle,
Never making times simple.
Eyes, bright, seeing all,
Behold the eyes of those with enthrall,
Looking to be the size of a small marble ball.
Have you ever dreamed of being a firefly?
Examining all those from a bird’s eye,
Always having to wave a final good-bye
At the turn of the night,
Fly away in flight,
Until tomorrow night,
Dear firefly.
Glittering high in the night sky,
The escapist’s beating wings never flying shy.
Rays of moonlight dancing through your translucent wings,
The quiet hum filling the air with silent things,
That translucent pair looking like they’re made up of strings.
A body, thin and nimble,
Stealing the sky’s space with its swindle,
Never making times simple.
Eyes, bright, seeing all,
Behold the eyes of those with enthrall,
Looking to be the size of a small marble ball.
Have you ever dreamed of being a firefly?
Examining all those from a bird’s eye,
Always having to wave a final good-bye
At the turn of the night,
Fly away in flight,
Until tomorrow night,
Dear firefly.
