“Jonny, hurry up! You're going to be a good ten minutes late.” Jonny rolled his eyes as the sound of his rather obnoxious mother rang through the bathroom door. He gave himself another check in the mirror, making sure his hat fit atop his mess of curls in a perfect fashion, then rushed out to his mothers car. She revved up the engine and gave him a peeved look.
“Hey! I just like to make sure I look fantastic, is that such a crime?” Jonny's mother held back a giggle, wondering in her mind how this boy ever labeled himself as straight.
“Well, no, but I'm pretty sure owning over ten hats should be.” She muttered, pulling out of the driveway. Jonny gave her an annoyed look, straightening his hat, and huffed defiantly. “Oh, calm down, pretty boy. At least you buy they yourself.” she laughed at herself, and drove the rather annoyed Jonny to school.

“Aye, Will!” Jonny called, waving to get the attention of his best friend. “Wait up!”. Will stopped at the top of the steps to the school, waiting for the other boy to catch up.
“Hello, Jonnyboy. A bit late, are we?” Will said, sounding slightly annoyed. Jonny stuck his nose up indignantly.
“I made it here before the bell, that should get an award.” Jonny teased. “Anyways, anything new today? Or is it the same old routine once more?”
“We haven't even gotten inside yet.” Will pointed out. “But I reckon it's the same.” Jonny nodded in agreement, but when Will opened the door of the school, they found something quite different. The halls were bustling with chatter, and a tidy group of people were crowded in a huge circle around something unseen.
“What the hell is going on?” Jonny said, stepping back slightly. The entire quad of the school felt alive with energy. Will looked around, searching for their small group of friends.
“Phil! What's going on?” Phil Harvey looked up from the circle of boys, and smiled excitedly.
“Something different, finally! There's some new kid here, apparently he's a big hot-shot from where ever he came from. His name's Chris.” Will scrunched his nose a bit.
“Last thing this school needs is another rich prick.” Will said rather venomously. Jonny gave him a look.
“You haven't even talked to him yet, how do you know he's a prick?” Will shrugged and mumbled something resembling 'I just know'. “Well, I bet he's not. I bet he's nice.” Jonny stated.
“Oh, really now? Let's make a bet.” Jonny raised his eyebrow to this. Bets with Will were always fun. “If you can befriend this mysterious Chris in two weeks, I'll give you...fifty dollars.”
“Fifty? Oh, man, you are so on!” The boys shook hands, and the bet was on.

Monday, Day 1.

The lunch bell rang, and Jonny was determined to talk to Chris at lunch. He knew what he looked like now, for he was in several of his classes. He was tall, slim, and quite attractive. His curly hair resembled Jonny's quite a bit, but nothing could compare to his eyes. They were icy and blue, and Jonny could see why he was well-liked. Jonny looked around the lunchroom, standing next to Will, and found Chris sitting at a table full of other people. He didn't appear to be talking much, and the seat next to him was empty. Will gave Jonny a nudge and grinned. Jonny rolled his eyes and walked over.
“Hi. I'm Jonny.” Chris looked up from his salad and looked Jonny over, eyeing his extended hand. He shook it, a little uncertain of what to think of the boy.
“Hi. I'm Chris.”
“I know. So, how are you, Chris?” Chris raised an eyebrow, causing Jonny to smile endearingly. Chris laughed a little.
“Uh, well, fine. And you?”
“Quite dapper!” Chris laughed again, seeming to enjoy Jonny's uplifting attitude. Jonny couldn't help but think of how easy befriending the boy would be.
“Well, Chris, I'm going to get lunch. See you later, then.” Jonny flashed him one of his most endearing smiles, and then got up to tell Will the fabulous news.

Chris couldn't help but watch Jonny as he left the table. He could almost feel his heart pounding, and he was almost angry with himself. He had just met this boy, there was no reason for him to feel this way! His eyes were such a lovely green... Chris shook his head softly and stood up to go the library and escape these unusual thoughts.

Jonny didn't see Chris until later that day, after school.
“Aye, Chris!” Jonny smiled, walking past Will, who was muttering lowly to Phil about how much of a 'bullshit bet' this was.
“Jonny, hi!” Chris grinned widely, the feeling he'd just recently escaped rushing over him again.
“So, this is my phone number. Call if you just want to hang out or something, I'm usually free.” Chris felt his chest elate with hope, even though he knew Jonny probably just saw this as a friendly gesture.
“I'll call whenever, yeah.” Chris tried to play off his answer as cool, but dropped his binder when he tried to put the number in his back pocket. “Fuck.” he muttered, instantly regretting trying to be cooler than he obviously wasn't. Jonny was giggling slightly when he looked up. Chris felt himself go red. “So, uh, yeah.” he coughed awkwardly. “I'm gonna like, walk home now. And stuff. Bye, Jonny.” Chris smiled before he left, then headed off in the direction of his house.
Jonny grinned in triumph, then strutted over to Will.
“Well, Will, what'd I tell you? Easy.”
“He isn't exactly your friend yet. You have to be decently close to him.”
“Fine, fine. Anyways, we still have a good two weeks, let's not fret. Even though I'm obviously going to win.” Jonny was still grinning, and as he walked over to his mothers car, he didn't see how the bet couldn't be won.

Tuesday, Day 2

Chris slammed his car door, stomping into school. He was absolutely peeved. He looked around, noticing all the strange looks he was getting for the second day in a row. He also was certainly not in the mood for the 'new kid' bullshit either. He clenched his fists and continued on to his locker.
"Hi, Chris." Chris jumped slightly, about to yell at whoever had just startled him, but the almost familiar sight of Jonny's green eyes calmed him down.
"Oh. Hi, Jonny." Chris sighed. Jonny raised on eyebrow.
"Shitty morning, I see?" Chris couldn't help but grin a little.
"Yeah. Pretty shit."
"Well, why don't we go and skip?" Jonny's smile twisted mischievously.
"Skip school?" Chris' eyes widened. He'd never skipped anything!
"No, Chris, we're gonna skip around in the playground with the kindergardeners. Yes, skip school!" Chris blushed, and nodded quickly.
"Let's get the fuck out." He muttered.

Jonny smiled as he and Chris triumphantly walked out of school boundaries. First bell hadn't even rung yet, so nobody really noticed their absence immediately.
"So, Chris. What're we doing?" Chris ran a hand through his hair, trying to think of answer. Jonny couldn't help but notice how his shirt rode up ever so slighty, revealing-
"Uhm, nevermind, I have an idea. Come with me." Jonny tried to clear his mind as he led Chris away from the school and into a grassy hill-looking area. The two boys walked for about twenty minutes, until they came across a dusty path. Jonny led the way still, and soon they both came to a beautiful clearing. A waterfall cascaded from one corner and led into a pool that took it's place beside a wide, flat grassy area. Palm trees covered the top of the clearing, and you could smell the flowers that must've been all around. Chris stood near the entrance of the clearing, wide-eyed and mouth gaping.
"I always came here as a kid. To kind of escape everyone else around me. It's beautiful." Jonny explained quietly, for he was still in awe of the clearing himself. Chris nodded, finding himself staring at Jonny as he gazed around lazily. Jonny sat down in the middle of the grassy area, smiling to himself. He glanced up at Chris.
"Come on, join me. Just sit and watch. It's so lovely." Chris obeyed, sitting almost instantly. He found himself willing to do anything Jonny asked.
Soon, it wasn't long before the two boys found themselves asleep.

Chris awoke in the clearing, but now he and Jonny were laying down. Chris had an arm draped over Jonny, and he had his face nuzzled into his soft shirt. Chris yawned slowly, and sat up, gazing at Jonny, who was still asleep.
"Why are you so beautiful?" He whispered, mainly to himself. "I'm silly. To think you'd like me. Everybody hates me eventually." He ran his hands across the fabric of his shirt, which was covering his stomach. Chris was the only one to know of the several scars that formed across the skin underneath, streching from small to long and deep to shallow. "Everybody gets tired of me." Chris sighed, his breath slightly quivering. He sat for about five minutes before Jonny stirred.
"Morning, sunshine." Jonny joked cheerfully. "What time is it?"
Chris looked down at his watch. "About noon." he replied, surprisingly stiff. Jonny frowned.
"Something wrong?" Chris looked at him and back down to his feet.
"Just, can I do something? If you promise not to hate me?"
"Of course, sure." Jonny said, confused. Chris looked at Jonny's green eyes again. He took a shaky breath and rushed forward, almost climbing over the other boy, attaching his lips to Jonny's. Jonny tensed below him, but relaxed almost immediately, grasping Chris' neck and pulling him closer. Chris tensed for a second before releasing and running from the clearing.
You had to go and have feelings, Chris., he thought. You always have to have these feelings.
