“Hello, welcome to the Portland Adoption Center. I’m Wendy. How can I help you?” The lady said as Frank and I walked through the doors.
“Yes, we have an appointment. Iero-Way,” Frank said.
“Alright, this way,” Wendy showed us to a tiny room with a desk and a few chairs. I couldn’t help but notice the nameplate on the desk. Katreena Boder; it sounded so familiar.
“Gerard Way, is that you?!” I heard from behind me. I turned to see a very familiar face.
“Katreena, hi!” I said, getting up from my seat and giving her a hug. She sat down behind the desk and I returned to my seat. “Katreena, this is my fiance, Frank. Katreena and I were roommates in college. I didn’t know you lived here.”
“Yea, I moved here a couple of months ago with my wife. You remember Susie?” she asked me.
“The girl you were with in college, yeah. It’s really great that you are still together.” We conversed for about 5 more minutes, catching up, Frank joining in every once in awhile. We talked about her adopted kids, and Frank and I about Nikki and Danni and that whole story.
“You guys are lucky you got me. Most of the others would have said no without you even sitting down. I hate the people here. They’re all a bunch of whiny bitches,” she said laughing.
After about an hour of filling out all the paperwork and signing our signatures about a billion times, it was time to finally bring our new daughter home.
For the past few weeks we had been going through and meeting different children, but there was only one that stole my heart. Her name was Hannah. She was three and a half years old, with the prettiest blue eyes. She had long dirty blond hair, and was possibly the sweetest child I’ve ever known. The first time Frank and I saw her, we knew she was the one.
For the short time we’ve known her, she’s fallen fond of the both of us. Every time we come in to see her, she always has a new macaroni art for us. We’ve hung everyone of them up on the fridge. She loves hearing about Nikki and Danni, and she thinks, in her words, they sound like movie stars. The girls are really excited about having a new sister, and they’re glad she’s not a baby and that she’s older.

Nikki
I finished setting the table with the dinner Danni and I had made. We were both so excited to meet our new sister. She sounded like a really sweet kid. I still can’t believe they decided to adopt now, especially with Danni being pregnant, but at the same time I’m glad they did. And I’m even more happy that it's not a boy. Little boys are so irritating. I used to babysit a 3 year old, and I wanted to rip my hair out each time.
I heard a car pull up, and my heart started pounding. “Nikki, they’re here!” I heard Danni yell from the living room. I quickly went to the living room just as the door opened. Frank walked in with a big smile on his face. “Girls, meet Hannah.” he said as her and dad walked in together.
She was possibly the cutest thing I’d ever seen. Her long blond hair was messy from the wind, and she had this little crooked smile. She didn’t even look like she was almost 4; she was so tiny.
“Hi, I’m Hannah,” she said, putting her hand out for us to shake. Danni knelt down to her level.
“Hello Hannah, I’m Danni. It’s nice to meet you,” she said, shaking her tiny hand.
“And I’m Nikki.” She grabbed a hold of my hand and shook it. Danni and I led everyone into the kitchen where we sat down to eat. Hannah had to sit on a pillow because she wasn’t tall enough to see over the table.
“This food is really good. A lot better than the food where I used to live. It always tasted bad.” Hannah said with a sour look on her face. We all laughed.
“Well, I’m glad you enjoy it.” Danni said.
After a few hours of watching TV, and Hannah beating all of us at Go Fish, she was finally ready for bed. Dad and Frank took her downstairs where she would be sleeping. They returned not too long after.
“My parents are coming to town to visit. Mikey and Alicia are bringing their new baby over too, so you’ll get to meet your new cousin.” Dad said as she sat down on the couch.
I smiled and sat down beside him, “Hannah is so sweet. I can’t believe anyone would want to give her up.”
Danni nodded, sliding in on the other side of our dad, “She has us now, and we’ll never let anything happen to her.” She paused, placing her hand on her stomach. “I really want to have this baby.”
Frank sat down on dad’s lap and smiled, “Look at us. We’re becoming a great big family.”
Danni laughed, “Yea. We have a dad,” she gestured to our dad, “and a mom.” She elbowed Frank in the side.
Frank shook his head, “Ha ha. Very funny.”

I awoke to a knock on my bedroom door. I looked at the clock; it was a little after 3. I threw on my shirt and went to see who it was. I opened the door to find Hannah standing there wrapped up in her blanket. “I had a bad dream...” she said to me.
I picked her up and carried her upstairs. “How about we watch some TV?” I asked her. She shook her head yes. “Where do you want to sit?” I asked her.
“With you.” I just smiled and sat down in my recliner with her. I scanned through the channels, telling her what was on, until she decided. She was laughing at Tom and Jerry trying to outwit each other, while I was trying not to fall asleep.
“I used to have two daddies, but they weren’t very nice to me. I like you. You’re nice.” she told me, turning so she could see me.
“Well, I like you too. And I hope you like it here.” It was quiet for a few more minutes, except for the TV and Hannah’s laughing.
“What’s your job?” Hannah asked me. I thought for a second before answering.
“Well, it’s not really a job. But I’m in a band.” I told her.
“Wow! That’s so awesome!”
“Yes it is. I’m the singer. And Frank is a guitarist. We get to travel the world and play music for people.”
“Okay, coolest job ever! The last people I lived with were liars.” I just looked at her confused. “You know, they wore suits and talked to the judge.”
“Oh! Lawyers.” I said laughing.
“Yes, we have an appointment. Iero-Way,” Frank said.
