“Are we there yet?” Frank asked.
“No.” Bob replied.
“How about now?”
“No.”
“Now?”
“No.”
“No-”
“Frank I swear to god I am going to beat you if you don't shut up!” Bob growled and Frank laid down on the dirty floor.
“I'm so bored!” He cried and Emily looked at him curiously.
“Then read something.” Ray stated, reading a book himself.
“Or draw.” I suggested erasing the mark I made on my paper.
“Play some of Ray's video games. Those always make you feel better.” Mikey looked up at him and he just sighed.
“I guess I could do that...”
“Frank, you play guitar, right?” Emily asked. Her questions didn't come up very often, in fact she didn't talk much really. But when she did we were more than happy to answer or help her with something.
“Yea,”
“Play.”
“Play what?”
“A song.”
“What song?”
“Er...” Emily stopped talking and Frank smiled still finding her adorable.
“What kind of music do you like Emily?” The girl had a blank look on her face and it was about five minuets before she finally answered.
“I don't...What is music?” Ray dropped his book and so did Mikey, Bob and Frank stared at her and I tried my best not to explode.
“You don't know what music is?!” Bob asked and Emily huddled in the corner she was in.
“No, I know it's instruments and singing.” Emily frowned trying to explain music but it was obvious she has deprived of that knowledge.
“I'm getting my Ipod!” Mikey rushed to his bunk searching through his stuff until he found it. He plugged it into a speaker and flipped through the thing. “What should I play? Smashing Pumpkins?”
“Misfits!” Frank demanded.
“Iron Maiden!” I called and Frank made a face.
“Just play something!” Ray and Bob shouted together.
“What's your band?” Emily asked and Mikey gladly answered.
“My Chemical Romance.”
“Play that?” Mikey clicked a few buttons and then Skylines and Turnstyles started playing. Frank rolled his eyes and and Ray and Bob smiled tapping their feet and hands to the beat. Emily's face was priceless as the song went on even Mikey had a hard time not laughing at Emily.
“Skylines and Turnstyles.” She looked up at me confused. “That's what the song is called.” She smiled a smile none of us has ever seen before. It made the rest of us smile as well and when the song ended she clapped and asked for another one.
Although we weren't ones to listen to our own music over and over, Emily adored it. She even sang along quietly to some songs. Every song was her favorite and she smiled like a mad man when I sang along with her.
“Gee!” She tugged at my shirt and I looked down at her, sipping on my coffee. “The music stopped!” Her face was devastated and I realized she was right.
“The battery died, I'll go charge it.” Mikey said and the small girl looked sad without the music.
“It's okay, it will be back in a hour or so once it recharges.”
“Did I break it? How did the battery die?”
“No you didn't break it, when you listen to it for so long it will run out of energy. Like a person, and once you let it rest for a bit, it will have energy again.” She nodded understanding my explanation.
“You can listen to my music Emily!” Frank smiled holding up his Ipod. Emily's face brightened up again. She went over to Frank holding her arms up but the boy held the Ipod away from here. “What do you say?”
“Please, Frank!” Emily begged. We told Frank not to do that but it didn't work out so well.
“Noo, Frankie!” He stated.
“Frankie.” She blushed. She called everyone by there full name except me sometimes with the occasional Gee.
“Good girl!” Frank clapped handing the Ipod to Emily who (from watching Mikey do it) plugged it in. She stared at it for a long time before turned to Frank.
“It's broken.” She said and Frank pulled her into a hug and awed.
“She is so fucking cute!!! I just want to eat her up!” He gave a big smooch to her temple like he normally did and Emily blushed darkly.
“Frank you are going to make her turn purple again.” Ray warned but Frank ignored him.
“It's not broken you just need to hit shuffle or click an artist you like. Go it?” The girl nodded but I had a feeling that she didn't know what to do. It was about twenty minuets later before Emily started making odd noised from the floor she sat on.
“Erm, you okay?” Bob asked but she didn't respond to focused on the Ipod.
“Frankie!” She cried giving up on finding it herself. He entered the room and she held out the Ipod. “You lied it is broken, I can't find M.” Frank took the Ipod and looked over it.
“Because you are in B silly.”He fiddled around with it and got the music playing again. “There.” He handed it to her and she frowned at the thing.
“It doesn't like slaves...” She muttered.
“Emily.” I warned and she focused back on the song not liking it when I scolded her. She needed to learn that she wasn't a slave but a real person.
“One more hour everybody!” Bob called and we all cheered.

Once we arrived in Arizona we all got out of the bus and stretched around happy to have fresh air once more.
“Gah it's so bright!” I quickly scrambled for my sunglasses and put then on. Emily didn't seem to mind, well she didn't really leave the bus. She stood at the edge of the last step leading of the bus, decided if she should take that last step of not. Slowly though, she extended her foot and tapped it on the ground but recoiled it back letting out a whimper.
“It's hot.” She frowned rubbing her burned foot.
“Ah shit, we need to get her shoes.” Ray said and we all nodded.
“We only have an two hours though till the show.”
“Holy shit!” Mikey yelled making us all look at him. “What are we going to do with Emily?” We all stopped and looked at Emily.
“Do we take her?” Frank asked.
“We could but she still isn't dressed properly.” Bob answered.
“Do we, leave her on the bus?” Ray questioned.
“Do we have a choice?” I sighed walking over to Emily who looked worried.
“Don't leave...” She muttered and I ruffled her brown hair smiling down at her.
“Don't worry honey, we'll be back in a few hours. Promise.”
“There are no promises...” She said almost to quiet for me to hear.
“Guys go on ahead I'll meet you in there after I take care of Emily.” Frank, Bob, and Ray nodded but Mikey stayed behind. He agreed to help me out and we set Emily down on the couch while we told her what to do.
“Here some food and water, in case you get thirsty or hungry.” I set them down on the counter she was able to reach. Mikey had the Ipod playing and have her a stack of my comics. I handed her a notebook and crayons and she set them aside not wanting to use them right now. “If you get tired just take a nap, we will only be able four hour maybe three.”
“Gerard come on.” Mikey spoke tapping on his watch.
“Do you need anything? Are you hungry? Thirsty? Tired?” She shook her head and I felt awful leaving her behind but I had to I didn't know what else to do.
“Bye Gerard.” Emily said sadly and I gave her a hug before Mikey pulled me out the door.
“Ugh I feel so bad leaving her.” I sighed and Mikey just shrugged.
“Until we get her suitable clothes so she doesn't look like a stray we can't take her out in public.”
“She looks fine to me.” I stubbornly stated.
“Shes wearing my boxers for crying out loud Gerard!” Mikey's hands flew up in the air as he spoke and I knew he was right. “I don't know how we are going to take her into a store without getting looked at weirdly.”
“We could do it at night time.”
“Our shows are at night.” Mikey opened the door for me and I walked in.
“Day time? Like four or five?”
“Are you going to get up that early?”
“I can try. Walmart's open twenty-four-seven.” I shrugged and he sighed.
“I guess, we talk about it after practice okay?” I nodded and he patted my back as we entered the final door looking at our guitar players and drummer.
“It's about time you to showed up! Come on we have got a show to preform!” Frank clapped his hands to getting rushing us to our spots. I took a deep breath and tapped my shoe against the floor.
“1...2...3...GO!”
