Sharing the sofa

by ImJustFine 3 reviews

I dedicate this to my cat, for spawning the idea... Turned out to be more about people in general, though... Maybe I think too much.

1Insightful
This little lump of flesh
Is she sharing her warmth for a reason?
Or just merely thinking:

"Whatever..."

Did she curl up,
right here by my heartbeat,
just to show some affection of sorts?
Or because the spot where I'm laying
is proven
the most comfortable place to sleep?

What's she secretly thinking
am I taking up her space?
Is this world maybe her's,
does she own it?
And I'm here
to be wished away?

Or could I be viewed as an object?
No more animate than a chair
I'm thinking,
she wouldn't miss me,
if I were to disappear

Perhaps when she looks my way
a sister will she see
Although warped, odd and strange
but a sister,
all the same

I wouldn't know...

But no matter what truth might lie,
beneath that coat of fur,
as long as I stay unknowing...

My warmth,
I'll be happy to share
