I stepped out of my apartment in the middle of alphabet city. I took a left out the door and headed to work. My heels clicked as I made my way to the nearest subway station to take it downtown Manhattan. I stopped for tea at the Starbucks cattycorner to the station. Every morning I see the same gorgeous man sitting in the corner with a paper and a notebook in hand. He had dark black hair with brown eyes. He had broad shoulders that normally wore polo shirts. Today he was wearing a navy blue American Eagle shirt. He wore jeans and pair of black chucks. I’m quite sure how tall he is but most likely taller than. But then again I’m only 5’2 ½ so that’s not hard. My heart always skips when we happen to make eye contact. I simply just smile order my tea and leave. I’m sure he sees me but does he notice me? That is the question of the hour. On this particular day he started gathering his things before I finished putting sugar in my tea. He stood up put his jacket on and walked out the door. I finished stirring added a little more milk and proceeded out the same way. I noticed him crossing the street toward the subway. The same way I was heading. I passed him in the turn styles because he was fumbling with his card and made my way to the platform. I noticed that he was on the same platform just a few feet away from me. I took a deep breath. Do I talk to him? Or make eye contact? GAH! I wish Laura was present she would know what to do! Laura is my really good friend from college. I could drop something…I racked my brain…but what? The train came before I had a chance to decide. He stepped on with me. I noticed two seats were open in the back of the car so I went there but he sat down. I quickly glanced for any other seats. Of course there would be none and I didn’t feel like standing in heels spilling tea all over my gray suit.
“Can I sit here?” were the first words I said to him.
“Sure.” She smiled that gorgeous smile. “My name is Frankie by the way.” He introduced himself.
“Nice to meet you my name is Alyssa.” We shook hands. Dad would be happy he had a strong handshake.
“Nice to meet you as well, that’s a pretty name.” I blushed.
“Thank you.” I smiled.
“I assume you are heading to work dressed like that.”
“You are correct.”
“What do you do?”
“Oh I work for a record label.” His eyes lit up.
“Really?” he seemed surprised.
“Yep, I do advertising and promotions for their artists and events. Do you work?”
“Yes, I work in the music industry as well.” I raised by eyebrows. I was intrigued but damn train. I have to cut him off.
“Sorry this is my stop.”
“I’ll walk with you…if you don’t mind.” He quickly added.
“Not at all.” I was on cloud nine for sure. He walked me the block and half to my office building. We tried to continue our conversation but it was difficult because the streets were so busy this early. “Well this is me.”
“Alright, nice talking to you, see you tomorrow morning?” he smiled and I nodded. It continued like this for a week. We would meet at Starbucks and he’d take me to work. It was nice having company instead of my iPod all the time.
“Hey are you busy tonight?” He asked me on Friday.
“Yes I am sorry. Why do you ask?”
“Well I was performing tonight at Angels and Kings. I was going to ask you if you would like to come see me.”
“Aw I love concerts! I’ll see what I can do.” I smiled at him.

Tonight I had a date with this guy who I’ve seen a couple other times.
“Hey after dinner wanna go check out this new singer at Angels and Kings?”
“Sure sounds like fun!” Matt replied. He had gorgeous blonde hair and brown eyes. We were sitting at a little Italian restaurant in Little Italy. The cusine was delicious. I really renjoyed Matt’s company. I actually met him at a local show my label was scoping out. We may sign them but regardless I hope to still see matt. He is a gentleman. He held the door open for me as we made our way to his car. He drives a black 2001 BMW Z3. It was sharp, my mom would love it!
We arrived at Angels and Kings half past 8. We spotted a couple of seats at the bar and made our way there. It was near the stage.
“Wahat would you like to drink?” Matt asked.
“Tequila sunrise please.” I replied and soon spotted Frankie on the other side of the room. I waved and he came over toward us. I hope I didn’t miss his performance.
“Hey you made it!” he smiled at me.
“Yea and I brought my friend-”
“Matt?”
“Frankie?”
“You two know each other?” I asked. I was confused.
“Yea where in a band together.” Matt replied. He did not seem too happy that Frankie was standing in front of him. “Can you please excuse us for a moment, Alyssa.”
“Actually Matt can we talk later? I perform at 9.” He gave me a little smile. “Enjoy the show.” He left to get ready, I believe.
“How do you know him?”
“Well I hardly know him but he always goes to the Starbucks in East Village. He started talking to me last week.” Matt had a perplex look on his face. “Something wrong?”
“No, sorry.” He smiled. We talked a bit more before the lights dimmed and Frankie took the stage. He started to sing. He had a really nice voice. I could listen to him all day.
“Hey my name is Frankie Galasso. Thank you for joining me tonight.” He stated after his first song. “This next song is an older one called Dream On.” He sat down and started to play the guitar and sing the song.
“We sang this song in the group.” Matt whispered then started to sing me the words softly in my ear. Matt had a nice smooth voice as well. He and Frankie actually sounded great together. Both complimented each other…wonder what happened to their group? Frankie sang a few more songs and covered a John Mayer song.
“Thank you for coming. Hope you enjoyed the show. This last song goes out to Alyssa.” He looked at me. I was not excepting this. It was interesting song to dedicate to me to say the least. There where a lot of sexual references. The crowd seemed to like the song and him. The cheered as did I! he bowed and walked toward me. “So what did you think?”
“You were good, very entertaining.” I told him.
“That’s good, I am glad. How about you Matt?”
“You were good, Frankie.” He said. “Can we please have that word?” Frankie nodded and both boys excused themselves. They walked outside. I scanned the roo to see if I knew anyone and of course I did. No surprise there. I saw a couple acquaintances that I knew through work. Then out of nowhere I saw Laura in front of me.
“Hey, what are you doing here?” I asked.
“Jamie and asked me if I wanted to get drinks after work and I said yes. We just walked here.” She explained. “I saw you were on a date when you arrived so I didn’t want to disturb you.”
“Thanks.” I smiled.
“So is that the Matt guy? And was that song dedicated to you?” she inquired.
“Yes and yes.” I told her. “I’ll explain later!” she nodded and I noticed the boys walking back into the room. She hugged me before returning to her husband. “Hey boys!” I greeted them and smiled.
“Hello, Lys if you are not busy after this would you like to grab a bite to eat?”
“Sorry Frankie, we just ate. Maybe next time.” I glanced at Matt. He seemed relieved. “But you did great Frankie. I’ll talk to you on Monday right?” Frankie seemed stunned but nodded and walked away. I took a final sip of my drink and turned to Matt.
“Now what?” he asked.
“Oh I don’t know…Thought you could take me home and…”I trailed off. He knew what I meant. As we were leaving I waved bye to Laura and Jamie. I would ask him about Frankie later. It would kill the mood and I defiantly didn’t need that right now.
