The cold, desert breeze licks your face, little one. It’s so ill with despair, moaning it’s sorrow of a million innocent souls. All lost. The wind has no hostile intentions, no. She is only sad. Heartbroken from losing so many of her children in a war that no one can remember the cause of. It’s her misery you sense, now close your eyes. Can you feel the malicious dust coat your pallid complexion? It’s the curse that sadness carries. Morbid, is the dew it spreads upon your skin. Translucent veil of poison and collateral damage. It’ll show in your descendent generation, their bodies come out weak and malformed. Derranged. Blame the corporation, for they made it all rise. Or blame the rebels, for waking you. Kicking you aware of the fate you’ll hurl into with all the might of your flesh and bone with their defiant songs and greasy, dyed hair.

A rancid smell evaporates from the miss-matched family you find yourself a part of. It’s the odour of sweat and blood and tears, the putrid stench of bile and burnt flesh that lingers in the clothes. It’s the scent of alienation. Of fear, and most of all of sleeping rebel deserteers. The sand under your feet can tell you, that many years ago, rebel was how people lived. Colors were not prohibited and smiles were precious still. Now you wonder, as your young feet stagger to the beat of a dying desert afternoon, why the sun had been left yellow, and the sand had been left so golden and the cacti still shone green, if they wanted white so bad? Why had eyes still kept their hazel, brown and green and blue, and why was not a single sleeping rebel’s features, gifted with a smile?

The sky is turning amber and if freedom had a hue, this, is what you’d imagine it to be. Gold and magenta and black, cold shadows in the humid wasteland eve. And the wind still painting the landscape with invisible death by radiation, a blackbird taking to silent flight as your soles thud against the ground. A whirlwind, and that smile of yours is not a forced one. It’s not a clip-art, paint-on sticker as the ones in the city. A sigh as light as the wheeze of the wind, it’s all he lets out to tell you he’s awake. Enough to betray his act of sleeping. He’s scared, he’s tired and he’s lonely. He misses his mother (you do too) and his rainy childhood and the world he has told you about. Those days, he said, when clouds weren’t just evaporating cotton in the heights, but weeping, grey colosses that would drench the streets in fresh, purifying liquid. His eyes turn vacant and stained with sorrow as he speaks to you the most broken story of them all. All the wrong, the faults that has become the acid rain that nourish nothing but corrosion and rust.
Humanity has always been eager to conquer and rule. That day, not so very long ago, that damned day that would condemn the earth to it’s inevitable end...

Humaity conquered itself.

"Move your body when the sunlight dies
Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow
Everybody hide

Make a wish when your childhood dies
Hear the knock, knock, knock when she cries
We're all alone tonight

Hold your breath when a blackbird flies
Count to seventeen and close your eyes
I'll keep you safe inside

Heat burns my skin
Never mind about the shape I'm in
I'll keep you safe tonight, y-yeah

Move your body when the sunlight dies
Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow
Everybody hide
Move your body when the sunlight dies
Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow
Everybody hide

Blow a kiss at the methane skies
See the rust through your playground eyes
We're all in love tonight.

Leave a dream where the fallout lies
Watch it grow while the tearstain dries
To keep you safe tonight

Heat burns my skin
Never mind about the shape I'm in
I'll keep you safe tonight, y-yeah

Move your body when the sunlight dies
Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow
Everybody hide
Move your body when the sunlight dies
Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow
Everybody hide

Love, love, love won't stop this
Bomb, bomb, love won't stop this
Bomb, love won't stop this

Run, run, bunny run
Run, run, bunny run

Move your body when the sunlight dies
Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow
Everybody hide
Move your body when the sunlight dies
Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow
Everybody hide
Move your body when the sunlight dies
Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow
Everybody hide
Move your body when the sunlight dies
Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow
Everybody hide"
