Lost Angels Jail
“My client has stated several times he knows nothing about the case which you seem to be so interested in however you don’t want to listen to what he has to say. Let me point out that any harassment from your department could get you shut down. This may be the largest jail but it is clearly the most horribly run.” A tall man in a grey suit and balding hair stood in front of a desk trying to look intimidating to the younger man behind it.
“Mr. Gilger I assure you nothing has been said to your client that was deemed threatening….”
“Yes but you did question him without my presence.” Mr. Gilger interrupted the young man.
“He hadn’t requested your presence and it was not our obligation to retrieve it.”
Mr. Gilger frowned, shaking his head. “My client will answer no more questions until you have proof that he is guilty. Seeing as you have no evidence that he is connected to this crime, I’m putting in a request for a monitored release.”
The man behind the desk stood up, glaring daggers. “Don’t. Don’t do that.”
Mr. Gilger smirked. “Oh? And why not Mr. Kramer?”
Mr. Kramer sighed. “Look, Jack, I know we have had our differences but please, that poor boy…..don’t do this to him. It will be all over the news that Terrice has been put on monitored release. Think about what that will do the his family…..”
There was a pause between the two men that lasted for about 30 seconds before Kramer spoke up. “I’m doing what is best for my client Paul. I’m requesting a monitored release until your department can get more evidence to hold him. Should you fail to gain more evidence, Mr. Terrice will be a free man.”
Frank tossed and turned in his sleep, whimpering and begging. His hands were brought up to his chest, clutching the sheets as if he was trying to protect himself from whomever was hurting him in his dreams.
“Ahhh ummm ahhh ooh fuck! Fuck that’s good!”
Frank’s mouth was coated in saliva as it was forcefully moved back and forth over the hardened cock of an unknown yet familiar man. His hands were tied behind his back, a blindfold over his eyes, his knees hurting from the cold hard floor and his throat burned from vomiting so many times before. He gagged around the head as it reached too far back into his throat but he simply received as smack on the head.
“Whores don’t gag! Suck! Use your tongue!” The voice was rough and showed age. Frank knew he was most likely in his 50’s as he ran his tongue along the base, trying not to choke and just wanting it to end.
“uhhnnn ahhhh uhhghhh uhgghh ahhh. So fucking good! Oh fuck!” The man bucked his hips forward, fisting Frank’s long, uncut hair and tugging his head back so his mouth was wide open as he shot cum down his throat. He kept his hands in Frank’s hair, tossing him to the floor as he pulled up his pants, still slightly panting.
“Such a good boy.”
Frank’s eyes shot open as he screamed “Nooooo!” His chest heaved up and down, tears falling from his eyes. “please, don’t….please stop…please. I don’t want to…..please”
The door swung open causing Frank to jump out of his skin. His mother rushed to his side, pulling him into an embrace, trying to calm him down. “Frank…shhh baby its ok. Shh Frank, I’m here.” She rocked him back and forth frowning and looking at him with tired eyes.
He whimpered. “I didn’t wana….they…made me….I didn’t….they won’t go away mama. The wont leave. Make em go away….make it all stop.”
“I’m trying Frankie….I’m trying. Please believe me.” Tears started to fall from her eyes. This was breaking her heart and she really didn’t know how much more she could take before she too started to fall apart. Her baby boy was broken and she couldn’t fix him. After what seemed like hours, Frank’s breathing finally steadied telling his mother that he had fallen asleep again and she stared, shocked at what she heard her son say in his sleep.
“Gerard he can make them go away….mama said he could.”
Gerard sat in his office, filling out paperwork the receptionist called. He picked up the office phone, holding it to his hear with his shoulder as he continued to write.
“Yes Jessica?”
“Dr. Way, there is a man here to see you.” She sounded nervous on the phone.
“Can it wait? I’m kinda busy right now.”
“I’m afraid not doctor. He says he’s with the police.”
Gerard put his pen down, sitting up straight, his full attention now on the other end of the phone. “What is he here for?”
“he won’t say.” She sounded scared but he knew it was just her timid personality.
“Alright. Tell him I’m on my way down and Jessica?” he sighed.
“Yes Dr. Way?”
“You worry too much. Relax alright? I’m sure its nothing.” He smiled, knowing she was probably blushing.
“Yes sir…thank you.”
Gerard hung up the phone, stacking the papers on his desk before walking out of the door and down to the lobby where the men were waiting. As soon as he exited the elevator he was confronted by a man in a suit with short brown hair and blue eyes.
“Gerard Way?”
Gerard nodded. “Yes. May I ask what this is about?”
“I’m Paul Kramer, head of the LA Police department. Is there a place we could talk in private?”
Gerard nodded. “I was just about to head to lunch. Join me?”
Paul nodded, turning on his heal to follow Gerard out of the building but not missing the smile he gave the worried looking receptionist. The walked out to the parking lot where Gerard turned around to face Paul. “I usually go to this little coffee shop down the street. Would you like to follow me there or hitch a ride. Its quiet and based on the fact your the Chief, I can assume you want a long conversation, not simple questions correct?”
Paul nodded. “You assume correctly Dr. Way however I can assure you, you are in no trouble though I didn’t miss the look of worry from you receptionist.”
Way nodded. “Jessica. She worries too much about me. She has a big heart and tends to think the worst of situations however unneeded those thoughts may be.”
“I see. Are you two a thing?”
Gerard laughed. “Oh no. Though sometimes I think she wishes we were but your not here to talk about my relationship with the receptionist.”
Mr. Kramer nodded. “Very well. You drive?”
Gerard nodded and led Kramer to his car, getting in and starting it before driving and parking to the coffee shop that was, as he said, just down the street. The entered and the waitress smiled at them “Gerard, you have a friend this time! And no papers! I’m impressed.”
Gerard laughed and sat down at his usual table. “Glad you take that much notice in me Penny.”
Penny walked over and set down two coffees with crème and sugar smiling. “Well, your kinda hard to miss Gerard.”
“Thank you Penny.” He smiled as she walked away and turned to Kramer. “Now, what was it you wanted?”
“I want to talk about Frank Iero.” Kramer stirred his coffee and took a sip, looking at Gerard over the edge of his cup. “And don’t’ lie. I know he is in your care. I am also aware of the trust Ms. Iero has put in you about the condition of her son.” He set his coffee cup down. “I’m not asking you to break any of that trust but I do need your help Gerard.”
Gerard stared down at his coffee, contemplating if he should at least call Ms. Iero to inform her of what was going on. “I will only share what I feel is necessary until I have full permission from Ms. Iero to disclose everything.”
“Agreeable. What is the condition of Frank?”
“Without answering a question with another question and without sounding defensive, why do you suddenly need to know? Mrs. Iero will ask the same thing. I’d like to have a proper answer to give her. ”
“Jonathan Terrice is being held under the charges of neglect, sexual assault of a minor and if we can tie it in, murder. The problem is the evidence we have wont hold to those charges. His lawyer wants to file for a monitored release and if we don’t find the evidence we need, Terrice will walk free. I don’t want that to happen so any information you have about the condition of Frank Iero may just keep this son of a bitch in jail and away from Frank.”
Gerard’s eyes grew wide with concern. “What questions can I answer?”
“I know he is traumatized however if we can get a confession out of him, anything that can point to Terrice we can build our case on that.”
Gerard nodded, taking a sip out of his coffee. “Honestly I’ve only been with him for 2 or 3 days but….” He was cut off by his phone ringing. He looked down to see it was an unknown number so he just clicked ignore and kept talking. “Sorry. I’ve only been with him for about 2 or 3 days so I don’t know much. I can’t even get him to look at me, let alone talk.”
Kramer listened to everything Gerard was saying, trying to think of any way he could use this to keep Terrice in jail. “Well, I have to get going but please keep me posted on anything Frank says or does.
“Of coarse.” Gerard watched as Kramer stood up and placed $5 on the table to cover his coffee and a tip before walking out. Gerard followed suit after saying goodbye to Penny, running out of the coffee shop to catch Kramer, remember he gave him a ride here.
“Hey! You want a ride back?” Gerard walked next to the Chief, his hands in his pockets as he tiled his head to the side to get his hair out of his face.
“Nah, I’m good. Its nice out so I think I’ll walk.” Kramer smiled and kept walking as Gerard waived goodbye and went his own way back to the car to resume his work at the hospital.
The phone rang several times, causing Gerard to groan and sit up, rubbing his eyes as he looked at the clock. 2:37am. He mumbled something as his hands flailed around in the dark trying to find his cell to make the ringing stop. The screen once gain read an unknown number and Gerard almost ignored it before his annoyance took over, casing him to flip the phone open and answer it.
“Hello?” His voice rough and clearly annoyed.
“ummm I….ummm…” The voice was breathing heavy and sounded like a teenage boy.
“Look, its 2:30 in the morning. If this is a prank call….”
“Its Frank….You said that….if it’s a bad time I can….im sorry.”
Gerard’s eyes grew wide as he instantly calmed down, his voice soft and kind. “No, no Frank its alright. Is everything ok?” He slowly slid out of bed, trying not to wake up his girlfriend next to him and walked into the kitchen with the phone to his ear.
“I just….um…you said I could…call a..any time. I didn’t think that I….” he sounded so scared that it broke Gerard’s heart.
“Frank, I’m not mad. Talk to me.” He leaned against the counter, arms back and palms on the table.
“I want a friend….”
His answer took him aback. “I’m not sure I follow Frank….”
This time Frank’s voice seemed less timid which was something he hadn’t heard yet. “I want friend, not a doctor or a mother. I want someone who can know me without having any idea what……happened. To treat me like it never happened. I know I’ll never get over it but…..at least live in denial.”
Gerard nodded but then felt stupid because he knew Frank couldn’t see him. “I can understand that. Are you asking me to be that friend?” for some reason, his heart was pounding at the answer.
“If…I mean….if you want…” The timid Frank was back.
Gerard smiled. “Frank, I would love to be your friend.”
“Thank you Gerard. Goodnight.”
There was a click at the end of the phone telling Gerard he had hung up leaving him to only smile at the phone. That really was a strange kid and maybe he could bring back the Frank that used to call him Gee and laugh at anything no matter what was going on. He knew he could never bring back the innocent little Frankie but maybe he could create the illusion that he was still there.
