Do you know me?

by ToxicRenegade 1 review

A bit of nonsense I pulled from the deepest fathoms of my vacant considerations.

It started as:
Do you know me?
My name doesn't count.
My soul is the page, This is not a summary.
Your eyes can't find me
For I'm hiding in your hands.
You only need to ask.
Then I could thank you
For lifting me out.
I could know you,
And maybe, you could know me.

And turned into this dire performance
Do you know me?
My name doesn't count.
My soul just a novel,
And this poem a page.
Your eyes can read me,
Your lips utter my words
As if they were nothing but air.

Should you try to find the deeper meaning
In my solemn words and tragic smiles,
You would never see me the same.

But only if you found your way.
Only if you deciphered me,
Broke down my walls
And tied me back together,
Would you get the chance to hold my hand.
Would you even want to?
Knowing that the same little girl
Who you ran into in the arcade,
And laughed at your futile attempts at humor,
Was breaking apart already.

I could't let you do that
For fear your irises change from the sky,
So I'll keep my question buried inside.
Simple, yet no less complex,
Do you know me.
