The boy who's scared of the forest

Once upon a time there was a boy who thought he was going to die. He lived in a small house in the forest and feared everything in the forest so he couldn't go out and get food.
But one day a girl came skipping along and saw is frail face from the window. She said "Hello! How lovely to see you. Oh on, you look hungry. Would you like something to eat?"
The boy hid from her. He was sure she was a forest monster that wanted to eat him. The girl was hurt by him hiding from her but was more worried by how hungry he looked.
So she left food for him by his door and left. The next day she came by again and saw the food was gone. She knew he wouldn't come out for her like yesterday. So she came up with a plan. She put the food a little bit further from the door this day
She kept doing this till she placed some in a tree and waited for him to come out. When he did she said softly "You don't have to fear what's in the forest, when if you don't even know what is here." She scared him and he ran back to his house
She waited for him though. For two days and two nights till he came out. He said to her "Is there anything to fear?" She said "I don't know, let's find out together" He then said with a weary smile "Ok but let's eat first."
