Midnight blue nails
Tap on the desk.
Her mind is elsewhere,
Staring out the window
Where could she be,
Soaring high like a kite.

She wishes she were a balloon,
Able to float away
Attached to nothing but the wind.
Flying free from the world
Out into orbit
With the stars and the moon.

She wishes she were the moon,
Shining brightly in the night
Floating with the stars,
Casting her brilliant glow
Onto a world
That needs the light.

She wishes she were a blade of grass,
So small and insignificant,
No telling features to make her unique;
Just like everyone else.
Without her the world could function
And with her, it would make no difference.

She wishes she were anything
But herself.
