Learning: The begining
0 reviewsI need some one to know, any one to know. This is how is happend. How it started. I'm still trying to make sense of it all. My name is Anatolia and i am a Jumper
-1Boring
Prologue:
If you want a joyous tail about prince charming, damsels in distress, and every one having a happy ending then this is not the story for you. This story, mine, is about citrine events that have happened that lead me to tell you about them. You see this story is about the end of the world, and how I came to stop it.
Why am I telling you this? You may ask. Well it's simple. Some one has to know. I figured you would be as good as anyone else. Yes, it is true that I don't know you but I figure once you read further you will get why this is coming to you. Trust me. This won't be easy to digest at first. I've been at it for a year now and I still fully don't understand it. My name is Anatolia Godiva (yes like the chocolate) Sparker. I know my parents must have been on some weird trip when they named me.
I'm not from around here. Sure I grew up in Washington but that's not where I'm from. I don't know where I'm from. I'm not even sure if the people I lived with are even my family. But I don't think that's important now. What's important is that I tell you what happened. All of it. From the beginning. Then maybe you or I will understand why it's so important that you read this. I have to tell some one, I need to tell some one, and this just happens to be your lucky day.
Chapter One
It was the day before my seventeenth birthday. I was ecstatic. Life couldn't get any better. I had a great boyfriend, an awesome car, and my own apartment in the City where I stayed during the week, parents who were rich off their butts and believed in spoiling their children, life was good. I was sitting in my apartment waiting my boyfriend, James, to show up. We were going to the movies that night because he had to work tomorrow and wouldn't be able to be at my party.
I looked around my apartment. The top designers had designed everything here. My parents thought that I had to have the best looking place in the city. Even if it was in an apartment. I didn't mind. I never really did. My parents loved to spoil me. Let them have their fun. It's not like I flaunted my richness around. I wasn't one of those stuck up snobby rich girls that you see on T.V. I didn't think that the amount of money you have makes who you are. My parents were another story. They loved showing their money around. It didn't matter who you were. They showed it to every one.
I sighed and my thoughts drifted to James. He was the hottest guy at Richard's. All the girls wanted to date him, but I was the lucky one. I don't even know why I kept him around. He was just like my parents. It made me sick. But when we were by ourselves he could be really sweet. That and I hated being single. Who can blame me? Who wants to have nothing to do Friday night besides watch boring love stories and wish that their life could be like that? Definitely not me.
A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. I smiled to my self. That must be James.
"Coming!" I yelled.
I opened up the door with a smile on my face. "Hi James I was wonder...." I stopped short.
It wasn't James. It was my science professor.
"Professor Natters, what are you doing here?" I asked, clearly confused.
"There's not much time for that Ana, got to take you I've some where now before we're too late." He said grabbing be and pulling me out the door.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
I thought that maybe the science lab had blown up and did something to my project.
"Makergue, It's not that far, only a few hours. Can we take your car? I had to take a bus here." He said.
I nodded. Makergue? Where the heck was Makergue? This made no sense. We climbed into my car and sped away.
It was a short drive, only about 20 minutes. We stopped out side an abandon airport.
"This is Makergue?" I asked
"No no no, this is what's going to take us to Makergue. Now let's go inside, I need to get the crew ready for our departure." He said leading into the old, broken down hangar.
When I got inside I gasped. This wasn't an old broken down hangar. This was like a super mall with a bunch of weird looking people. Natters realized that I wasn't behind him anymore and yelled over his shoulder.
"Come on! I want to introduce you to your fellow jumpers!"
Jumpers? Makergue? Super mall inside an abandoned hangar? This was too bizarre. Natters lead me up a flight of stairs into a large room. Sitting at the table was a bunch of people I've never seen before. Natters had me take a seat next to a girl with black hair with blue and red streaks. She flashed me a smile and mouthed a small "Hi" to me. I smiled back and sat in the chair. Natters stood up at the head of the table. It was like something out of some business movie where the CEO sits at the head and all of his workers where sitting on the sides in ranking order. Funny, I'm the last.
"Hello everyone, we've got some business to get down to. First thing first. I would like to introduce you to our latest jumper Anatolia Sparker. Please give he a warm welcome, we are all familiar with the story concerning Ana please helper her out, you remember what it was like during your first jump."
Every one in the room was staring at me, but for once in my life I didn't care. What did Natters mean by every one was familiar with my story? Was there something special about me?
"Now then, we all have our assignments, accept Ana of course, but that will be saved for later. I will be going with the Core to Makergue. You will all be giving me reports there. And I will be expecting them. Dismissed." Natters finished, sounding just like when he'd give us a project at school.
Every one filled out but a few people. I looked around the room. There was a blonde haired, hazel eyed, pale boy who looked about my age. Sitting next to him was a boy with brownish black curly hair. He had tanned skin and was very muscular. He smiled at me and I blushed. For some unknown reason I blushed. I never blushed, not even at James. The girl sitting next to me stayed also.
With a press of a button the table shrunk down so it could only fit us four and Natters at the front. He took the seat and looked at me.
"So Ana, I suppose you have some questions." He looked at me.
"Some?" I said, "Try a zillion. First where the heck am I?"
"You are at a switching station. This is where Jumper headquarters is so it will be a tad bigger than any you will see when you jump. People from other territories come here. This is where they get their information and book vacations and such." Said natters as if explaining the process of covalent bonding.
"Territories? Vacations? And I thought your science lectures were hard to under stand Professor." I said shaking my head.
Natters smiled at me. "I suppose I should explain a little bit more. In this room is the Core. It is made up of Ian," he pointed to the blond hair boy who waved, "Kylie," the girl sitting next to me smiled " and Shane who is your jumping partner." The boy with the curly hair smiled at me and I felt my cheeks go hot again. "We are Jumpers. Jumpers are people who travel from territory to territory keeping peace. The Core handle bigger problems. The ones other Jumpers don't know about. Most Jumpers are born and can be pointed out easily. You weren't so easy." He said pausing for a breath.
"Why wasn't I so easy?" I asked.
"Well your parents didn't want you to experience what they did so they chose to fade back into their world. I looked for you for years before I found you your freshman year at Richard's." Natters said.
I looked at him ridiculously. He had been following me since freshman year? This was getting weirder by the minute.
"So you're saying that my parents didn't want me to be a 'jumper' so they kept me on Earth to lead a normal life." I said "Natters this makes about as much sense to me as your theory on evolution." I said throwing up my hands.
Natters was nuts! That was it! He had one to many chemical explosions in the lab! What I wanted to know was how he got every one else into his delusional world. Kylie smiled at me.
"I know it's a lot to take in Anatolia, but trust me it get's easier. Just think thought, even though Shane is your jumping partner, we get to room mates and I can help you out tons!" she said with a bright smile on her face.
"You can call me Ana." I said, smiling back.
"Well I see you girls are getting along nicely. Kylie you can show her to your quarters and get her ready to go. Shane and Ian will meet you in the mess hall." Said Natters, standing up.
Kylie gently pulled me out of my chair and out the door. Everything was coming to me in spurts. What was happening? Where in the world am I going? What in the world is a Jumper? The most important question I had however was this: Why me?
