After the movie was finished, everyone seemed rather keen on going home, so they all piled into the car - Gerard rode along with to be polite, and Mikey stayed at home, being younger and not all that interested in social niceties. They dropped Ray off at a dingy one story on a different side of town, and Bob in a veritable McMansion. The fact that Bob had money seemed to be a sore subject for him, as all the others teased him relentlessly. Once they had all been taken home, Frank turned to Gerard. "I'll take you to your car, then?" He asked, remembering that they had left Gerard's vehicle at the high school. "Totally. Unless you wanna keep hanging out?" Gerard asked this while looking up from underneath his eyelashes, a tactic Frank had only read about. He wasn't sure why it affected him so, but he couldn't even manage to stammer out a response. So he bit his lip, smiling, and nodded his approval.

They settled on going to a small dive of a diner. "It's fantastic. It's open all night, and they have, without a doubt, the best french fries in Bellevue. Probably the world." "Let's do it, then."

The drive was about 15 minutes, and Frank took this time to reflect on his curious interest in Gerard. Frank had always been slightly attracted to men, but the idea that he might actually want one enough to pursue something was a frightening concept. He'd been written off as asexual at his previous school, due to his complete lack of interest in any sex. It wasn't that he didn't feel attraction to anyone, it was just that people bored him out of his skull about 99 times out of 100. Gerard was different. Not only was he beautiful (Frank allowed himself to use this term only in the pursuit of logic and reason - it was rather undeniable), but he was kind. And intelligent. And there was just.. something. Something in the spark of their hands touching. Something in the tiny smile Gerard had given Frank in the office that morning. Something that he just couldn't describe or ignore.

Frank was a little rattled at the idea of being gay. Women had more or less never interested him. He could appreciate them aesthetically, but they had never been the object of slavish devotion. Frank had had sex with women. A few, here and there, if he got bored or horny enough. But he had suspected from these encounters that it couldn't be what this love business was all about - surely it had to be less lackluster than the satisfaction of a couple primal needs? He hoped so. Glancing over at Gerard as they stopped at a red light, he smiled gently to himself. Gerard caught his eye and looked back at him questioningly - Frank thought Gerard was probably unnerved by his silence, but the quiet couldn't have been more comfortable to Frank. Although the thoughts he was thinking did make him feel a bit jittery.. So did the gaze Gerard laid on him, actually. Frank couldn't help but get a little lost in it, as he had earlier, and it wasn't until a honk brought them back to reality. Gerard blushed and turned his head to look out the window.

Frank pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant and lit a cigarette. He noticed Gerard eying it hungrily and he offered him the pack. "You smoke?" He asked, trying to keep his tone amicable as opposed to starving for information. "A bit." Gerard replied, giggling brightly as he did so. "So a lot, then?" Frank pressed, and Gerard nodded slowly. "Yes, but Mikey's always going on about what a thuggish, revolting habit it is. So I try to tone it down around him." Frank smirked at him, leaning over to playfully ruffle his hair. "Such a good big brother!" "Fuck off." Gerard retorted, mock-shoving Frank away. Frank took a drag of his cigarette and angled the smoke out the window of his car, trying to think of something clever to say, but all that came to mind was How about you fuck me instead? Which was so over the top homoerotic and uncalled for that he was disgusted with himself for even thinking of it. Still, the concept wasn't entirely unappealing.

They finished their cigarettes and stepped out of the car. It was nearly dark by then and getting rather chilly. Frank hugged his coat around himself and hustled to the door, throwing it open and heading in. He held it for Gerard, and they were seated at a booth near the back. Despite the fact that it was the dinner hour, the place was mostly empty. They were seated by a huffy, overweight man in his mid-forties. "Your server will be right with you." He snarled, tossing a couple of worn, green menus at them before disappearing around a corner. Gerard looked over at Frank and raised his eyebrows, which made both of them laugh. A few minutes later, a thin, brunette waitress with heavy black eye makeup approached them. She wore a nametag that read "Nina" and Frank could feel the attitude exuding off of her before she even spoke. She aimed a glare his way before turning to Gerard.

"Hey, Gee." She said, smiling. Frank nearly fell over. How had he been that off-base in judgment of her personality. "Hi Nina, how's it going?" "Good, good. How are you?" She spoke in that disaffected cool-girl voice people adopt when they've got something to hide. Frank wasn't fooled. As if she had only just noticed him, Nina turned to face Frank, "Oh, who's this?" She said this to Gerard while looking at Frank, as though she didn't care who Frank said he was as long as Gerard answered her. "I'm Frank Iero. I'm new." "Nice to meet you." She said hurriedly, turning back to Gerard almost immediately after she was finished. "Charmed, I'm sure." Frank muttered. He was starting to think that this girl was Gerard's girlfriend, or maybe a past squeeze of some kind. The idea upset him more than he'd ever admit.

"Hey, can we get some coffee? Oh, and french fries. Frank hasn't had them from here before." Gerard finally piped up, breaking the standoff between Frank and Nina. "Totally, totally. I'll be right back." Frank watched her skinny ass flounce around the corner and out of sight, unable to hide the look of distaste on his face. "So, she seems.. nice." He said as genuinely as he could manage, and Gerard couldn't help but chuckle. "Ignore her. She used to date Mikey, she's been trying to get in my pants for years. It's just not happening, which she fails to realise." The second sentence was spoken quietly and he ceased to make eye contact with Frank. His heart did a little flip as he responded, "Oh, okay. Seems as though she sees me as a threat." He tried to make this sound lighthearted and jesting, but Gerard was too smart to write it off that way.

He looked up at Frank and smiled that secret little smile once more, before turning to look at Nina as she rounded the corner with the coffee. "Fries'll be out in a bit, I'll see you then." She said, leaning forward to deliver their tray of coffee. Frank noticed she leaned close to Gerard, giving him what was without a doubt an eyeful of ample cleavage. He couldn't help but snort. She glanced over at him, and he pretended to be incredibly interested in his silverware, biting his cheek to hide a smile.
