Chapter One.

That night,I tossed and turned.I couldn't sleep,yet it was only 11pm.Sleep was the last of my worries,so I got up from the small bed,and made my way to the kitchen.AsI made my way over to te kitchen,I took a long look at myself in the hallway mirror,taking in every last feature.My brown hair,messed up from the sleeping struggles,yet my fringe stayed in perfect condition.My skin had gotten a little pale,sickly pale.After a little while of staring at the walking corpse in the mirror,I continued my journey to the kitchen,flicking on lights as I walked.I got to my small cramped kitchen in this dingy 3-room apartment,and got out some bread and butter.Toast might help to sleep,that's what I thought.
I began making the toast,putting the white bread in the small toaster,flicking down the latched to send the bread down for cooking.I then set out everything I needed ; a plate and a butter knife.I layed them out on the counter,beside the butter.After a while,the toasted bread popped up and I grabbed it and prepared it.I then made my way to the seating area,switching on my small television.Some news story,about a mugging in a New Jersey comic shop.Stuff always went down there,yet I liked it in a way.I had a few friends down there.

The phone rang,as the sun began to rise.It had woken me up,so I was in a bit of a groggy mood.I picked it up,and Jesse's voice rang down the line.

"Hey,man!"He greeted."What you up to?"

"Well,I was sleeping."I answer,I sounded really cranky.

"Sorry,man."He apologised.

"Well,I'm up now,so what do you want?"

"Ready to record a new single?"

"I got no ideas,man."I admit.It was true,with all the shit that has been happening,I didn't have a thought for anything new.

"Well,why don't we play one of our old songs? For fun?"

"Yeah,okay."I sigh,standing up and stretching."Be there soon."

"'Kay man."He said,before hanging up.

I then went back to my room,quickly getting dressed in my skinnies,a v-neck vest and my sleeveless hoodie.I pulled on some black boots too,before heading for the front door,grabbing my car keys as I passed.Travelling down the hall without getting a fucking headache was hard,as on my floor was two families with babies,a dude who had major parties every fucking night,and an arguing couple,who were clearly gonna get a divorce soon.I quickly got out into the fresh air of Grand Rapids,Michigan.I found my car,a small,black Ford,and got in,closing the door behind me.I started the ignition,and drove down the street,switching on the car radio as I drove.More on the story of the mugging down in NJ,before one of our old songs were played,If You Can't Hang.That was a fun video to shoot,good times back then.I made it to the studio,slipping the valet a twenty-buck note to park it.I entered the studio,to see all the guys there.Justin and Jack were sipping on coffee,Gabe was talking to Jesse,who noticed me walk in.

"Hey,Kellin!"He greeted,and the rest of the band gave a series of 'hey's and waves.I just smiled,and I knew I had to tell them.

"Guys,I gotta say something,you might not like it."I hesitated,before telling them the truth."I'm gonna die."

"What?"Justin nearly choked on his coffee,before resting it on the stool next to him."What do you mean?"

"I mean,I have a year to live.I got cancer.Pancreatic cancer,to be exact."

"Shit,man."Jesse sighed,before resting a hand on my shoulder."What you gonna do? Can't you be cured?"

"No,Jesse.They said they've passed the point where chemo and radiation would actually take effect."I say,sitting down on the stool.

"Well,let's not stand here mopin'."Jack tried to lighten the mood.He grabbed his his acoustic,and I knew we was gonna play something from our acoustic album."How about some acoustic shit,to start us off?"

"Okay,what one first?"I ask.

"We'll suprise you."He smiled,and began to play the chords to If I'm James Dean,You're Audrey Hepburn.I sang through the song with a breeze.
