Han Geng's dad walked in the front door just as Han Geng's mother had set the last fork on the the table. Smiling, his dad walked over, kissed his mom lightly on the lips, and embraced his son warmly. Hang Geng's mom asked, " How was your day honey?" Han Geng's dad sort of avoided the question. "What smells so good sweetie?" Han Geng frowned and looked at the floor bitterly. Han Geng knew something was up. His father never avoided a simple question like that unless something really bad had happened. When Han Geng looked up his mother gave him a worried but careful look that said, "Be more respectful and nice to your father tonight." Han Geng swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat and gave his mom a nod. As they sat down together to start eating Han Geng's father made idle conversation with his mother. Han Geng just pushed food around on his plate. Han Geng's father finally said, "Son, are you okay?" Han Geng looked at his father and blushed nervously. "I'm still just nervous about the audition," Han Geng replied quickly. This seemed to put his father at ease. "Well son, all you have to do is go and sing a little song for them, then after hearing you, they'll most likely sign you to the label." Han Geng's father said this with such confidence and conviction it actually made Han Geng stop worrying for a minute. "Thanks dad," Hang Geng said smiling brightly. The rest of the meal passed by in comfortable silence.

After dinner Hang Geng offered to help clear the table for dinner, but his mother refused. "Your father and I need to talk for a little bit sweetie," said Han Geng's mother. Han Geng nodded, bent down, kissed his mother, and headed off to bed. Han Geng was about to change when he suddenly decided to listen through the wall. "I can't believe your pushing him into this," Han Geng heard his father say. "You've heard him, he'll be fine," his mother said coarsely. "I'm not saying that he isn't talented, it's just what he turns into a nervous wreck and ruins it." Those last words brought stinging tears to his eyes Han Geng thought, "I'll prove him wrong, he'll see." After changing into his pajamas, Han Geng crawled into bed, snuggled under the covers, and cried himself to sleep.

Knijee was humming while waiting for the delivery guy to show up with the pizza. "You know, you made the right decision when you signed up for the audition." Knijee smiled brightly, "Thanks mom." Knijee's mom replied teasingly, "I just wish it wasn't for K-pop." Knijee just rolled her eyes and continued humming. Suddenly, making Knijee jump a little, the doorbell ringed. Some kid roughly two years older than her, with acne, answered the door. Two large pepperonis and a large cheese, your total is $19.95. Knijee reached into her pocket and pulled a 20 out of her pocket. After letting the guy keep the change, Knijee took the pizzas and set them on the kitchen table. Knijee then grabbed a plate, put a slice of pizza on it, and went to her mom's room. Since they don't eat meals together, Knijee has to go to her mom's room if she wants to eat with her. After sitting down and eating quietly Knijee's mom said, "So you're really going to pursue being a Korean pop star?" This was the one thing Knijee disliked about her mom. She didn't take her dreams serious. "Yea, I mean it can't hurt to audition." After finishing her pizza, Knijee went off to her room to finish her book. Her book always helped her block out the world.
