The next day at school, Frank was determined to keep his cool and not allow Gerard to know that he had feelings for him (if that was what it was). After all, it had only been a day, and it was fair for Frank to suppose that he had been jumping the gun. Maybe his loneliness had taken his imagination too far, and he was just imagining that Gerard was this perfect creature of the night, designed specifically for Frank. Also, he was pretty embarrassed about the sex-nightmare he had had about Gerard the previous night. It was a fucked up dream, after all, and Frank didn't need Gerard to know that he was already having fucked up dreams about him.

Frank arrived at school, suddenly remembering with horror that he hadn't taken Gerard back to his car last night. He began to panic a little bit, wondering if Gerard hadn't had a ride to school at all- and what about Mikey? He instantly ran back to his car, hopping in and driving around the parking lot. He located Gerard's car, exactly where they'd left it. The clock read 7:45 - he still had enough time to run to the Way's house and give them a ride, although he'd be really late to first period, and what if they had started walking or something? Fuck it. Frank roared off toward their house.

When he arrived, he ran to the front door, knocking furiously. A rather irritated looking Mikey answered the door in his pajamas, a toothbrush stuck out of his mouth at an awkward angle. "Hey?" He said, knitting his eyebrows. Mikey is such a little fuck. Frank thought, resisting the urge to roll his eyes. "Hey, is your brother home?" He asked, peering above the top of Mikey's head to look around for Gerard through the door.
"Yeah, let me get him." He said with a sigh, turning around and leaving the door open. Frank supposed this meant he was supposed to come in. The whole situation struck Frank as very odd. Did they not have parents? Why weren't they ready for school?

Lost in reverie, Frank was surprised to be tugged from it by a familiar voice - Gerard's, of course. "Hey!" Gerard said, friendly as ever, clearly pleased enough to see him that it made up for Mikey's rudeness. "Sorry if Mikey was a dick to you. He's not a morning person."
Frank laughed. "Yeah, I noticed."
"So what's up?"
Frank glanced nervously at the clock. 7:55. School began at 8. Normally he wouldn't give a fuck, but he didn't want his teachers to hate him this early on.
"Well, I got to school and remembered I hadn't taken you back to your car last night, and I was worried that you guys wouldn't have a ride to school.." He explained rather hastily, meeting the other man's eyes only once for an apologetic smile. "Sorry to show up unannounced like this, it was pretty rude of me.."
Gerard, as Frank had expected, smiled and laughed. He placed a hand comfortingly on Frank's shoulder, a lock of thick black hair fell in between his eyes and Frank had to restrain himself not to brush it out of the way.
"We have another car. I can't thank you enough, though - seriously, that was so thoughtful of you. Hey - I'm almost ready, want me to ride with you, and we can have Mikey take my dad's car to school today?"
"Perfect." Said Frank, smiling. Gerard turned around to grab a bottled water from the fridge, and Frank was given a moment to admire Gerard's outfit. He was wearing slim-fitting black pants and a white button up shirt (the sleeves were rolled up). Over the button up he wore a tight, black denim vest, which had a few pins advertising comic books on the lapels. Frank smiled inwardly, before his expression changed to a frown upon realising that his own outfit was not as fantastic - he wore superskinny, supertight black jeans, which were covered ass to heel in patches, and a red and white plaid button up he'd shoplifted from a Fred Perry in New York. He was rather proud of this accomplishment, although there was a slight rip where the ink tag had been, which exposed about half an inch of the alabaster skin of his ribcage.

They walked to the car together, Gerard working his usual confident stride and Frank ambling clumsily behind him. The drive to school was pleasant, and they found a spot near to Gerard's vehicle to park. Gerard walked Frank to first period, and Frank was sorry when he had to tell Gerard goodbye.
Once in class, Frank tried to keep his head down and remain unnoticed. However, it wasn't long before there was a sharp poke in his backside and a folded up piece of notebook paper was dropped on his desk. He unfolded the piece of paper. It read:
Hey,
Fancy that, we've got a class together. Anyway, what's the deal with you and Gerard? I know you're new and he's doing that supernice 'oh I'll show you around, new kid' thing, but it seemed like something more than that? Are y'all fucking? Is this some kind of under the rug gay club going on in his group of friends? Did he mail-order you from Tunisia to be his dominated love slave?
Yours truly,
Nina

Frank snorted, turned around to pinpoint Nina's location (she gave him a sardonic little wave), and scribbled a reply.

Nothing's going on between us, and I think you'd know if I were from Tunisia. Why? Are you his girlfriend? Does he show all new kids around like this?
Frank

Immediately after passing the note back to her he realised that his response betrayed his interest. He cursed himself silently until her response came.

Not his girlfriend. Consider me an interested party. I mean, who could resist those molten hazel eyes, right?
Yes, he does tend to latch onto new kids. I think it's some kind of immersion program. He shows them around, hangs out with them, and then steers them towards their own hand-picked group of friends. Those guys never let anybody in. Why? Did you think he just picked you because you're special? No, he really is just that nice.. although I'm sure you're very special.

Frank read the note three times in order to absorb it. Apparently he hadn't been suspicious of Gerard's kindness for no reason. I mean, sure it was nice of Gerard to take him under his wing for a little bit... but Frank didn't need help. He needed friends. And he wanted Gerard. He sighed and pocketed the note, deciding against dignifying Nina's bitchiness with a response. She threw a balled up bit of paper at the back of his head when she realised he wasn't responding, and his answer was to flip her off behind his back. He had never met someone who was so A. unapologetically sadistic, and B. loudmouthed about who they had a crush on - who does that?!

Frank knew enough not to confront Gerard about what Nina had said. He was immensely paranoid that he only had a little bit of time left for Gerard to hang out with him, and he didn't want to fuck it up. Besides... it WAS nice of him to show Frank around..
