Coming Of Age

So...it was my birthday yesterday. I turned 21. Quite frankly, I was a mix of emotions at first, but once I cleared my head, this came out of it.
Seems like a normal day
But to me, it's much more.
Today is the day I turn twenty-one
I guess that means I'm coming of age.
Never thought my life would turn out this way
Didn't think I'd get a perfect little family before thirty.
But nowadays I see that isn't the case
I guess that means I'm coming of age.
Woke up feeling surreal
How is this a reality?
Now I know I'm ready to face the world
I guess that means I'm coming of age.
"Happy birthday Ava!"
That's what I'm greeted with when I wake up
I now know my life is perfect
I guess that means I'm coming of age.
So, in other words, it's quite surreal to be 21. Trust me, you won't know the feeling until you turn 21 yourself, if you haven't already.
