Prologue
I woke up alone in my crappy, cheapo apartment and tousled my shoulder length way dark brown blonde hair. I sat up and let the blankets fall off my bare chest as I swung my legs out of bed and stood up. I looked in the mirror at my body, I was pale and pasty but I was curvy which I guess makes up for my lack of tan lines. I pulled out a bra and a pair of lacy panties, I pulled them on and pulled on some tight flare legged jeans and a fitted Modest Mouse T. I slipped on my black sneakers that made my feet look small and hide under the flared legs of my jeans, then applied a thin line of eye liner and some mascara before grabbing my purse and phone. I got in my electric blue Nissan Juke and drove down town to my job, a record store clerk. I pulled up and parked and as I got out of my car, Roderick, my coworker came out and looked me over. He was 40 and had a huge hard on for me, he eyed my chest and body hungrily as I put my keys away.
"Charlie, my sweet, why are you late for work?" he taunted
I was only 2 minutes behind.
"Traffic." I stated dully as I walked past him into the store and sat behind the counter.
He had followed me in.
"Well, I have to punish you." he said in a frisky tone.
I looked up from the Rolling Stone magazine I had opened.
"Like how?" I asked sarcastically
"I'll have to spank you..." he said with a wink.
I looked at him, my green eyes unwavering in their intense hate.
"Fuck off before I file a sexual harassment case." I threatened.
He purred.
"Feisty..." he teased and walked off.
I glanced down at my phone and saw a missed call from my sister, Theresa. I called her since the store was dead and propped back in my seat.
"Chuck?" she answered.
I laughed.
"What's up Tee?" I asked.
"Wanted to know if you were still going to that guitarist audition, this afternoon."
I looked at my watch.
"It's only in a few hours...it's at 5 and it's only 11." I laughed.
She groaned.
"Chucky, please take this seriously!? This could be your big break." She droned
I sighed.
:Look, I know it...but it's for a dude band and dudes don't dig chicks who shred on guitar."
"You may be wrong...who was it for again?"
"Panic! At The Disco.."
She laughed.
"More like train wreck at the station if you ask me." she teased
I snorted.
"Not everyone is New Kids On The Block, Tee!"
We laughed for a little.
"Well I have to go...your nephew and brother-in-law are whining for food...I hate the man cold."
"Have fun with that shit, love you sis, bye."
"Bye, Chuck."
We hung up and I stared at the clock.
This band had come to Chicago because Fall Out Boy, some other dude band, was from here and said that the pickins were pretty good here for musicians. I sat back in the chair and picked up the guitar I kept there and started picking the intros to Don't Fear the Reaper by The Blue Oyster Cult and Welcome Home by Coheed and Cambria.
Now it's only a matter of time....
