Please read and review. Thanks!
It was a week later and we were in LA. I had nothing to keep me in New York, besides Amy, of course. With the close call with Gabe, I felt that moving to LA was for the best. Complete opposite sides of the country was for the best right now. My question had caused too much reminiscing.
Pete and I had discussed moving back in together, but we agreed that we'd buy a place for us to live as a family and he'd stay in the apartment for the time being. I didn't want to rush back into things and we had yet to start counseling. That would happen after the move was complete.
I had been hiding out and keeping my belly concealed during the move because we were trying to keep it a secret for now. It was already gossip that we were getting divorced, even after our public statement that we weren't. Now it was public information that I had moved to LA. I was honestly surprised that there was no baby speculation considering I was nearly halfway through the pregnancy. I would find out next week what we were having.
I sat on the couch in Pete's apartment, scanning over the two listings we had narrowed our list down to.
"What do you think?" He asked me, sitting down next to me and wrapping his arm around my shoulders.
"I really like this one. We just need a... holy crap..." I said and looked down at my belly. I totally just felt something. "I think the baby just kicked."
"What?" Pete said and jumped up, crouching in front of me, hands instantly covering my small belly.
"Yeah, I felt a really weird nudge. Almost like a freaking strong muscle spasm." We both sat there still for a minute and it happened again. Pete's eyes lit up, telling me he felt it too. "Oh, this feels so weird." I said softly, a smile on my face too.
"This is so amazing." Pete was smiling from ear to ear. He kissed my belly gently and looked up at me.
"What?" He had a look of contemplation in his eyes.
"Let's announce the pregnancy ourselves. If we do it, then I think it won't be such big news. If we let the media speculate when you really start showing, then it will get out of hand," he reasoned. "Plus, I'm so fucking excited right now. I just wanna tell everyone that we're having a baby."
"You're funny," I said with a laugh. "Okay, let's do it." The baby kicked again and I smiled. "How should we do it?"
"We should totally post a photo on Instagram. Be like normal people for a moment." He said and I laughed. It was true, typical people can post their news on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram without it being a huge spectacle. I wanted the same for once.
"Sounds good to me." I agreed with him. "We should take a picture of just my belly or something."
"Let's get someone to help take pictures later tonight and we'll pick one to post. We are meeting with the Realtor soon, so we don't really have time to plan it out now." Pete reminded me. Just one more day of hiding this growing basketball of a belly.
That night, Patrick helped us out by taking some pictures. We settled on a picture of Pete and I together, him kneeling in front of my belly, kissing it lightly. I wore a tight shirt so that there was no question that I was pregnant. Pete captioned the photo with 'we made a little human', which cracked me up. Within seconds of Pete posting it, we had thousands of likes. And the comments were actually really nice, which made me feel better. I was a little nervous that all the false information on why we were "getting divorced" would turn fans against me. Guess some people have the common sense not to believe everything they read.
