"He's here," Elisa peeked her head into my room in the guest house. Tonight I was going on a date with a friend of her coworker. He was apparently tall and very handsome. I didn't really care as long as this person helped me move on. I desperately needed to move on from Pete.

"Okay, I'm coming," I replied and glanced over my appearance once more. I wore my long blonde hair down and wavy. I had on light makeup, sparkly heels and a curve-hugging sapphire blue dress with a v-neck. Elisa and I walked to the house and when I walked in the back, Pete was sitting at the breakfast bar talking to Patrick and, who I assumed was my date.

"Amanda, this is Grant." Elisa introduced me.

"Hi," I greeted Grant. He was definitely hot. Tall, muscular and blonde. Not really my type, but definitely hot. And really tall. I felt like a midget at the 5 feet tall.

"So nice to meet you, Amanda. You look beautiful." Grant complimented me. I smiled, feeling wanted. I couldn't help but look at Pete, whose jaw looked tense while he watched my exchange with Grant.

"Thank you." I stated in response to his compliment. Grant held out his arm for me to take and I did. "See you guys later." Elisa and Patrick said bye, Pete just gave a little wave, not even looking as Grant and I left.

"I hope you like sushi," Grant stated with a smile. His attractiveness was almost paralyzing.

"I love sushi." I smiled and he opened my car door for me.

Grant and I had a fun time tonight, but I just wasn't feeling it. I mean, he was smoking hot and a great kisser, but just not well... fun. He was honestly too mature for my taste. Seems weird that a 29-year-old woman wouldn't want a really mature man, but I didn't. I like joking around and acting like a kid sometimes. It's probably why I am so good with kids and teaching. I was always a favorite with the children.

I locked Patrick's front door behind me and headed towards the kitchen. It was rather late and I was surprised to see the lights on in the living room and kitchen. My eyes connected with Pete's the second I walked into the living room.

"Hey," I said before heading into the adjoining kitchen.

"Hey," he said nonchalantly and turned towards the TV. I glanced back and saw Patrick passed out in the recliner. "How was the date?"

"Good. Really good." I half lied.

"You seeing him again?"

"Probably," I lied. I honestly had no intention of going out with Grant again. Pete just nodded, not looking away from the TV. "Why?"

"He just doesn't seem like your type."

"Well, I haven't dated in years, so why not." I admitted honestly. Well, I was mostly being honest. The why not was definitely to get over him. The sad part was that it gave me hope that Pete still had feelings for me because he was interested in my date. I grabbed a bottle of water and walked over to Patrick, shaking him lightly.

"Hhhmmm?" He murmured, waking up. "Hey Mandy."

"Go to bed, I'll turn the lights off." I stated and Patrick just nodded before getting up.

"Pete, if you're too tired to drive, just stay in the guest room. Mandy is in the guest house." Patrick advised.

"Okay," Pete said in response.

"Night guys," Patrick said.

"Night," Pete and I said in unison. After Patrick retreated upstairs, I turned towards Pete.

"Well... goodnight," I said. Sadly, I wanted to hang out with him, but I knew it was for the best to go to my room.

"Goodnight Mandy," Pete reciprocated, a small smile on his face. I walked to the kitchen and turned out the light before heading to the guest house.
