Please read and review! Thanks!
"I like this one," I said, pointing to the image on the computer screen. Pete leaned over and nodded.
"Not bad."
I've picked it. I am getting a tattoo on the underside of my wrist with an EKG of a heart beat with a heart in the middle. I want it because it will remind me that I am alive. I've been feeling so alive lately. This bucket list has really helped me loosen up and enjoy myself. Pete has been helping me cross off the items on the list, one by one. It's been almost a month now.
I pinned the tattoo image on my Pinterest and closed my laptop. I had headed over to Pete's after I got off work because we were about to work on another one of my items: learn to make sushi. Pete had picked all the items up at the store and we were going to watch some YouTube videos of how to do it.
"Okay," he said as he set all the items out on his kitchen island. Pete put his iPad on the stand and pulled up some videos. I washed my hands as we began to watch the videos, trying to figure out how to do this. After about an hour, we sat down with some sushi rolls and were pleasantly surprised that we made delicious sushi!
"I can't believe we didn't fuck this up!" Pete was excited.
"I know. This could have gone so horribly," I laughed. Just then, thunder sounded outside.
"Is it going to rain?" Pete got up and looked out the window.
"My phone says 100% chance, so I'm thinking yes."
"We have to play in the rain," Pete smiled back at me. Oh yeah, that was on my list! It hadn't rained while I was awake these past few weeks. I couldn't help but smile back at Pete. He seemed genuinely excited. I laughed at Pete and nodded.
"Okay. We should totally go to a park so we can play on some playground equipment."
"Fuck yeah," Pete replied and I laughed. He really was like a kid sometimes. I loved it. We cleaned up our mess from sushi and hopped in the car just as it started sprinkling. By the time we got to the park, it was definitely raining. I put my cell phone and watch into my purse and Pete removed his important belongings from his pockets, too.
"Fuck, we didn't bring towels..." I realized.
"Oh well, the seats will dry," he commented and opened his car door. I got out as well and couldn't help but laugh. It was decently warm outside, so the rain wasn't too cold. We jogged off to playground equipment and began to play around. We were flying down the slick slide, falling off the soaked monkey bars, and getting covered in mud. After about 15 minutes, we decided to walk around.
"Here, hop on," Pete said, offering me a piggy back. I laughed and hopped on his back and he began to run with me.
"AH!" I screamed, holding onto him. It was moments like this that made not liking him really hard. He was just too fun. We stopped when we got to the sidewalk by the street. It was somewhat deserted considering it was nearly 10 pm and pouring. I slide off Pete's back and stood there, pushing my hair out of my face. I don't think I've ever been this soaked. Pete turned to face me, laughing lightly.
"This is so much more fun than I'd ever expected," I stated with a smile. Pete took a step closer to me, brushing some of my hair behind my ear.
"I agree," he said softly. The look in his eyes was something I've never seen before. He looked at me in a way I've never been looked at before. I bit my lip, feeling nervous and excited energy flood my system. Pete's eyes shifted towards my lips and I almost shuddered from the intensity of his gaze. Pete stepped forward again, standing mere inches away from me and began to lean in. Holy shit! He was going to kiss me!
Right before our lips made contact, a car drove by and hit a giant puddle next to us, showering us with gallons and gallons of water.
"AH!" I squealed in surprise. Pete laughed and rubbed his face with his hand, removing as much excess water as possible. I brushed my hair back out of my face.
"Let's head back," he said and I nodded. I felt incredibly disappointed. Granted, getting involved with him could make everything really messy, but it could also be incredibly amazing. We walked back to his car in silence, neither one of us wanting to talk about what just happened. Once we were back in the car, his phone rang and he began talking to his son. The conversation was really sweet and it was so obvious that Pete truly adored his son.
Pete pulled up in front of his place and killed the engine. "Uh, thanks for helping me cross off two more items on the list," I said.
"Of course," he smiled at me.
"I've got to head home so I'm not dead tired in the morning." I didn't want to leave, but it was getting late.
"Okay," he replied with a closed-mouth smile.
"Night," I grabbed my stuff and started climbing out.
"Night," Pete answered and climbed out, too. I jogged to my car and quickly got in. Pete waved goodbye and went inside once I started to drive off. I let out a huge breath, feeling really uneasy about what happened tonight. Knowing that he wanted to kiss me makes things so much more complicated. I still haven't done some things on my list and I almost pray that he isn't wanting to be my one night stand. I don't think I'd ever recover from being just a one time fuck with Pete.
