And the Canary Will Sing
Six:
House of Black (Him)
'What is it I need to do?'
"C-Can Ron and I come in?" The whole kitchen looked at the door. It slowly opened, reveling a girl about 15 with long bush-like chestnut hair. She had wide brown eyes that we filled with book wisdom. Behind her stood a gangly red headed boy. He seemed to be bathed in freckles. Towering over the girl, his sea green eyes held slight worry.
"Oh my Gods, Molly," Charlie breathed, her eyes taking in the boy and girl. "Molly, they're beautiful." The girl, boy, and Molly blushed.
"No dear. The red head is mine."
"I still say they're beautiful." Molly smiled and helped Charlie up.
"Miss Charlotte, this is Ronald, my youngest son. And that is Hermione Granger. His friend. Ron, Hermione, this is Charlotte Craig." They half heartedly waved.
"So, do you two go to Hogwarts? Is old Dumbly still there? And oooo, what about McGonagall? And I bet Professor Vecker retired, so who's the new Potions Master? And wow. Sotra must be long gone, who's doing Defense Against the Dark Arts? And gods, don't tell me Trelawney is doing Divination, cos, she frankly sucks." Hermione and Ron's eyes were rounder than Willow's was when Charlie searched her mind. They were silent then very slowly Hermione began to explain.
"Yes. Yes. Yes. Serveus Snape. We have no idea who will this year. And, sadly, yes." Charlie's eyes were wide and she sat on the floor.
"Snape?"
"Yea, he's a rightful git he is."
"No he's not," said Charlie glaring at Ron.
"Are you bloody mad?"
"Ron!"
"No, I'm not."
"You have to be, he's a bloody wanker Favoring-"
"Ronald!"
"Hump. Your going by what the James Potter and his bloody crew laid down!"
"No I'm not! He favors his house, and he picks on innocent students!"
"He must be in a permeate sour mode, enduring 7 years with James and his crew."
"And may I ask why, Mr. Weasley, your having a debate about me with a grown woman?"
Ron turned and gulped, while Charlie grinned.
"'Ello Snapey!" Snape looked at her with a disgusted look on his face. His black eyes bore into her. She looked back, her head cocked so that her hair barely brushed her shoulder. She smiled again and held her hand to him.
"Charlotte Craig." Snape raised an eyebrow.
"I'm assuming you know me." Charlotte nodded and pulled her arm to her chest.
"I do. But you wouldn't remember me." Snape sighed and handed papers to the Chunky Guy from his robes. He was ignoring her.
"Molly," she said shakily, "do you have somewhere I can sleep? I don't feel so well." Molly nodded, and took her arm.
"You can bed with my youngest, Ginny, and Hermione. Come along. You must be exhausted..." Charlie nodded and let Molly ramble on. The look Snape gave her. It's like her old self was no longer there for him to see. Carrie.
'I've been living with vampires for to long.' Carrie had long faded out. She was Charlotte now.
"Rest dear," soothed Molly as she layed Charlie down. "I'll send Ginny or Hermione, or Merlin forbid, Tonks up around supper. But if you're not ready, then you don't have to." Charlie nodded and closed her eyes.

"Hey Carrie."
"Oh! Hey Sev." A hug, and books are forgotten. They sit and talk in the library for hours. Constantly being shushed by the librarian. He tells jokes, she giggles. They hide behind the 'Popular Magic's' section. It's perfect. Until she spots Lupin.
"I'll talk to you later," she promises. They with a wave and a small smiled she walks over to the boy. He smiles and offers her a book. Leaving him to his thoughts. And he wishes she would stay. He wishes she would of said goodbye. Before she died.

Rap. Rap. Groggily Charlie opens an eye. A young woman pokes her head in the door. She smiles. And Charlie's eyes open wide. The woman had vibrant purple hair.
"'Ello. Molly sent me up. Supper's ready if you want." Charlie nodded but didn't get up.
"I don't feel much like eating," she admitted. The woman nodded and closed the door. Charlie kept her eyes open and listened to the fading foot steps. She sighed and sat up.
"I need to get a Blocking Spell."
