Cissa always went by Cissa. She was called Nissa and sometimes Nissy, but mostly Cissa. Her real name was Narcissa May. Narcissa May McGuire. She was ten. Her little sister Edith Annette mostly went by Eddie, and she was six. Cissa's older sister, Anniebell, went by Annie. Always. She hated Annibell because it was too girly. Annie was perfect. She was thirteen. And so, that was the McGuire family. There was a mom, and a dad, but they're not important. Cissa, Eddie, and Annie are. So basically, the event that ruined their lives happened at exactly six O' clock, Saturday night, at the McGuire table:

Mrs. McGuire (let's just call her Mrs.): So, Cissa, Eddie, Annie—your father and I have something to tell your dears.
Mr. McGuire (let's just call him Mr.): "We're going to Hawaii to visit your aunt Shianne for the summer.
Cissa: You can't do that! I have plans!
Mr.: What plans?
Cissa: Bella invited me to a concert, and Dannie has her RollerGirl birthday party! Plus Natalie wants me to sign up for overnight camp, and Lulu says she's having a Fourth Of July pool party!
Mrs.: But you having seen aunt Shianne in six years! We're going!
Annie: Cissa's not the only one who has plans! Sasha says she's gonna have a huge summer sleepovers!
Mr.: We are going. That's final.
Cissa: You're horrible!
