Edward looked at his ladies.
“What are you doing here?”
Winry clinches her fists on the table.
“We need to talk.”
“About what? There is nothing to talk about.”
Derdra frowned.
“Sit down.”
Edward had the feeling they wouldn’t leave until he heard them out.
“Fine.”
He took a seat at the kitchen table.
Winry went first.
“I cannot accept you like this.
You have to come back.”
Edward shook his head.
“I can’t.”
“I don’t want to hear it.”
She breathed in.
“How long are you going to keep running away?”
He gave her a strange look.
“Me? Running away?”
“Yes!”
“I’m not running away.”
“Yes, you are. Do you think we’ll let you go that easily?”
Edward’s eyes shifted to Derdra.
Derdra lowered her own eyes.
“She’s right.”
“What?”
“You have been doing it all along.”
The nurse lifted her head.
“Your confessions… You always run off and leave me to deal with them.”
“Derdra…”
“I tired of you dumping on me and running away!”
Edward drew his mouth closed.
Old lady guilt sat behind him, smirking.
“Wow…”
How did this get out of hand?
He thought that he made a clean break.
His plan just fell apart in front of him.
Now they sat in front of him, demanding answers.
He sighed and pressed his hand to his forehead.
“What do you have to say for yourself?”
Edward sat back in his chair.
“Well…”
The women glared at him.
They weren’t going to accept any excuses from him this time.
“Answer us!”
“I don’t want to hurt you!”
“You already have.”
Edward puffed up his cheeks.
“What do you want from me?”
Both women spoke.
“For you to come home!”
“I can’t do that.”
Winry slammed her hands against the table.
“Bullshit! We are tired of it!”
“I don’t know what else to tell you.”
“Spare us your shit!”
Edward looked at them with big eyes.
What the hell is this?
The looks in their eyes wouldn’t let him go.
Derdra’s fists trembled.
“You don’t get it, do you?”
“Get what?”
“We love you so much!”
There is was again.
Love had to be brought into the conversation.
Edward folded his arms across his chest.
“Is that right?”
“Yes!”
“And nothing I say can change your minds?”
“No.”
Edward sighed.
“What am I going to do about it?”
Battle Couple
Syd and Ella prepared for the next battle.
“Is this going to be the last time?”
“Seems that way.”
“And then what happens next?”
Syd turned to Ella.
“What do you mean?”
“What happens after we win this war?”
He shrugged.
“I don’t know. Start it over again?”
Ella groaned aloud and flopped back on the bed.
“What?”
“I am getting tired of the fighting.”
“What else can we do?”
“I don’t know. Live in peace?”
“We can’t do that.”
“Why not? Steven and Yasmine are doing a great job of it.”
“But we aren’t them. All we can do is fight. That’s all we know.”
“Yeah, but what do you really want?”
Syd gave her an odd look.
“Nothing.”
“Nothing. Really?”
“Yeah. What about you?”
Ella picked up her gun and began cleaning it again.
“I won’t tell you until you can be honest with yourself.”
Syd gave her an odd look.
What the hell was all that about?
Where it Stands
They didn’t get far this time.
Still, it’s doubted that will quit there.
They all bother do something fast.
The final act of this story is upon us.
One more act will push it all into the sea of black.
