Kaylee clenched the pillow in her hands tightly, her feet retracted against her body, and her toes curling at the edge of the couch.
They will find us. They will find us and hurt us. We must fight.
Kaylee whipped her damp face, listening to the end of her borrowed horror movie "Don't Be Afraid of The Dark". A close friend, Gillian, allowed her to borrow it last night. They were neighbors, so it wasn't a big deal in either of their eyes.
No, we will go deeper, and we will wait.
The 16 year old's jaw became slack when hearing the familiar voice.
Spoiler Alert
The last of Kim was supposedly when she was dragged into that hole, where those bone-eating creatures lived. She broke her legs, and possibly her arms, so naturally Kaylee thought that she was dead. Any sane person would.
They will forget, and others will come.
When will they come? When will we get them?
Soon, soon… We have all the time in the world.
-Yes.
-All the time in the world.
Without hesitation, Kaylee turned her TV off, and sighed.
There was no way she was getting any sleep tonight.
Glancing around her now dark living room, Kaylee realized how sinister her house was. She slowly got up from her spot, and made her way over to the light switch. Her hand, for a moment or two, hovered over the switch.
She was ready for anything she might, or may not, see.
Taking a deep inhale, she quickly flicked the light on. Kaylee exhaled, only now figuring out that she was holding her breath for quite a while.
Taking the borrowed movie out of the DVD player, she carefully put it back in its case, and sat it on the coffee table. Although it was 2 in the morning, Kaylee knew that she couldn't go to sleep.
Well, at least not yet.
So, in an effort to find something to do until school tomorrow morning, Kaylee put her shoes on and headed outside.
She felt around in her pocket, making sure that she brought her pepper-spray. Her fingers gingerly brushed over a smooth surface, telling Kaylee that she was all set to leave.

Kaylee sat on a swing, which was in the local park about a mile from her house, and looked at the sun-rise. Many colors clashed, but she mostly saw orange and yellow.
She slowly began to swing, hardly having enough momentum to do this much.
As she swayed back and forth, Kaylee's eyes drifted to the sky. She could see a few faint stars, but one star stood out the most. It was bright and blue, unlike the others that were faint and white.
Wait, since when are stars this bright during this time of day? An even better question was: could stars move?
Maybe it was a shooting star?
It seemed as if the light was becoming larger and brighter with every passing second.
It took Kaylee long enough, but she realized what was happening.
Her eyes widened, her body finally taking appropriate action. She threw her body behind the park's metal slide, just as something collided with the ground.
Kaylee's green orbs peered from behind the slide, catching the sight of a large ditch in the distance. Fire was dotted around the sight, burning the long green grass before disappearing as if nothing was there to begin with.
The young woman walked over to the ditch, which she realized wasn't too large, or to deep, like she first thought.
She crouched down as far as she could to the ground, and used a stick to poke around the loose dirt. She came across something hard, but it could easily be a stone. To be 100% sure that it was a stone, she lowered her hand to the soil.
She didn't feel any heat radiating off the area. If anything; it felt cold.
Strange…that completely defies the laws of physics.
Rolling up her sleeve, Kaylee didn't hesitate when deciding to dig around in the dirt with her bare hand. Her hand retracted with a handful of soil, as well as something else…
She lightly shook her hand so that the soil would slip in between her fingers, and eventually saw a dirty necklace lying in her palm.
For a moment she stared at it, and watched as the glowing blue light ceased.
She looked around to make sure nobody was near, and stuffed the necklace in pocket. Next, she used her foot to put out the remaining specks of fire, and used her hands to cover the hole in the ground.
This probably wasn't her best idea, but people do crazy things when under pressure.
