In the middle of practically nowhere, sat the Son residence. Here lived Chi-Chi, Gohan, and Goten. Son Goku would have lived here as well, if it weren't for the fact that he was dead.
Anyways, today, just like every other day, Chi-Chi was busy making dinner, while Goten was outside playing. Gohan, who had just gotten back from training Videl, was sitting at the kitchen table, talking with his mother.
"Mom, I know the upcoming World Tournament will be exciting for me, but for the Jr. Tournament, the only excitement will be Trunks and Goten. They'll get bored easily," Gohan said to his mother.
Chi-Chi stirred her pot of food, "Maybe a little girl will show up at the tournament. That would sure knock their socks off."
Gohan sat thinking about this for a moment, then he sprang up, "I've got it!"
"Oh, no you don't!" Chi-Chi said, sternly. "Dinner's ready, you can wait till after you eat."
Gohan was about to protest until he though of food. The second he did, his stomach let out a loud growl.
"Alright, it can wait," Gohan said, sitting down.
Chi-Chi went over to the front door, opened it and yelled for Goten to come in.

The next day, as Gohan was getting ready to go home from school, he remembered his idea.
"Almost forgot," he said to himself.
Pulling out a piece of paper from his pocket, he went up to the roof of the school. Gohan looked in the direction of the west part of town. Sighing, he put the paper back in his pocket.
"This is gonna take a little longer than I expected," he muttered.
He took off, into the air trying to go as fast as possible. He started to get to a smaller neighborhood as he got closer to the edge of town.
Landing in front of a quaint little home with a large garden, he looked around. Gohan walked up to the front door and rang the bell.
A couple minutes later, a man in his mid-thirties opened the door.
"Yes?" the man asked.
Gohan cleared his throat, "Um, I'm here to see Dr. Kuni."
The man narrowed his eyes, slightly, "About?"
"About-" Gohan started to say, but was cut off suddenly.
"He said he wants to see me!" an old man yelled.
He came to the front door and motioned for Gohan to come in. Gohan noticed the man was extremely old, with white hair and thick glasses.
They went into a type of library, filled from top to bottom with books. Gohan was in awe of it all.
Dr. Kuni went and sat down at what appeared to be a desk covered completely with books.
"Forgive my son, young man," Dr. Kuni said. "He gets suspicious of everyone. Leave the boy alone, Dobson."
Dobson had been eyeing Gohan the whole time, and was currently trying to perform a body check.
"Fine," Dobson said to his father, resentfully.
He crossed the room and sat in a chair near Dr. Kuni.
At that moment a woman entered the room with a tray of tea.
"It's time you had something to drink," the woman said to Dr. Kuni.
He took the tea and with practically one gulp he drank it all.
"Ah, thank you, Jasmine."
The woman left and Dr. Kuni settled himself.
"So, what did you come for, young man?" Dr. Kuni asked.
"Um, sir my name is Son Gohan, and I -"
"Son?! Goku! I wondered when you'd come to see me!" Dr. Kuni said jumping up,... well trying to at least.
Dobson sighed, "No dad, his name is Gohan, not Goku."
Suddenly, Dr. Kuni was rushing Dobson out of the room, "Yes, yes, that's what I said, Goku."
Dr. Kuni had pushed Dobson out the door and locked it, grabbing Gohan by the hand and taking him towards the wall. Dr. Kuni took a hold of the frame of a large painting on the wall and pulled it back to reveal a stairwell.
He grabbed the speechless Gohan's hand, again, and went down the stairs closing the opening behind them.
After walking down for a couple minutes in total darkness, they came to a door with light coming through it's cracks.
Pushing Gohan through, Dr. Kuni went in after him and immediately shut and latched the door.
Gohan looked around gaining his surroundings. He was in a gigantic lab. It looked even bigger than the one Bulma had.
"Wow," was all Gohan could say.
He turned and saw Dr. Kuni doing something with a keypad.
"Um, by the way," Gohan said. "My name is Gohan, not Goku."
"I heard you the first time," Dr. Kuni said, waving his hand. "I just do that to annoy my son. He doesn't know how to get down here, and I'd like to keep it that way."
Gohan nodded and made a sound that he understood. He was still looking around when he gently backed into something.
"What?" he said, looking behind him.
It was a large glass case and looked almost frozen over, except for a few spots here and there.
In one spot Gohan thought he saw a small hand.
"What in the world?" he thought, glancing at Dr. Kuni.
"So, Gohan," Dr. Kuni said, turning to look at Gohan. "How are you related to Son Goku?"
Gohan tore his eyes away from the case, "I'm his son, sir."
"Ah, how nice," Dr. Kuni smiled at him. "You're here to pick her up, no doubt?"
Gohan looked at him, nodding and slightly puzzled, "Yeah, um, where is she?"
Dr. Kuni chuckled, "In that case behind you of course."
Gohan turned around, gasping. Now he saw it through a clear spot. The soft little, pale blue face. The eyes were closed, as if asleep. Wild black hair all around the head.
She was a little icy angel.
"She's slept long enough," Dr. Kuni said.
His hand came up to touch the glass, "It has been my honor to watch over her. But now she must wake."
Gohan nodded deaftly.
Touching the keypad again, Dr. Kuni stated the process.
The glass case was opened, and Gohan saw that the girl was in a huge block of ice. The ice was picked up and taken towards a large vat.
"Why did you do all this? Just for her?" Gohan asked, accidentally outloud.
"A child so small should not harbor such grief," Dr. Kuni replied. "When I first met her, she was outside, in our garden, crying. We took her in, took care of her, and loved her. Then we found out the truth. I saw her one day, she had a sudden surge of power, which she could not control and it almost killed her.
"I realized that she couldn't control it because she did not want to. She wanted to die. Imagine that, a child of barely five years wanting to die. It was then, I built this, so that she could rest. That was all she really needed after all."
Gohan watched Dr. Kuni maneuvered the girl's body toward a table. She was laid down and the man attached a monitor to her chest.
"Just wait," Dr. Kuni said. "Her heart will start up any second now"
As if on cue, there was a sudden beeping sound. Her heart beat.
Gohan could only stare as Dr. Kuni started to wake the girl.
Slowly, but surely, her eyes opened. They were big and black. Gohan could see she was trying to make them focus.
"There we are," Dr. Kuni said, helping her sit up. "Did you sleep well, Ryoka?"
She nodded.
"Good, good," Dr. Kuni said, rubbing her back, gently. "Ryoka, I want you to meet someone. This is the son of your uncle Goku. His name is Gohan."
Ryoka turned her big eyes toward Gohan. He suddenly felt a little awkward.
"Uh, hi," he said, smiling at her.
Ryoka just sat staring at him.
After a few minutes, Dr. Kuni broke the silence, "Would you like to go home with Gohan?"
For what seemed like eternity, Ryoka just sat there looking at Gohan. Finally she nodded.
"Wonderful!" Dr. Kuni exclaimed.
He helped Ryoka off the table and tried to help her stand. However, it had been so long since she had actually supported her own weight that she could barely even lift up her arm.
Gohan offered to carry her, and she nodded. So he gently picked her up and followed Dr. Kuni back to his library.
Dobson was still waiting to be let back in. When Dr. Kuni opened the door, and Dobson came in he stopped, frozen.
"Ryoka?" he whispered.
She made a little wave from Gohan's arms.
"Father?" Dobson asked, turning to Dr. Kuni.
"Ryoka's going home now, Dobson," Dr. Kuni said, and then turned to Gohan. "It's probably time you went home now."
Gohan nodded, he went out of the library toward the front door, where the woman, Jasmine, stood.
She had gasped when she had seen Ryoka, but understood. She leaned forward and kissed Ryoka's forehead, gently whispering goodbye.
With that, Gohan stepped outside.
Before he blasted off into the air, Gohan felt a tug on his shirt. He looked down at Ryoka. She mumbled something he couldn't hear.
"What?" he said.
"I'm hungry," she said, quietly.
Gohan smiled, "Don't worry, when we get home, you'll get plenty to eat."
Anyways, today, just like every other day, Chi-Chi was busy making dinner, while Goten was outside playing. Gohan, who had just gotten back from training Videl, was sitting at the kitchen table, talking with his mother.
