a summer storm will come and go
and a song will only last for so long
there are only twenty-four hours in a day
leaves on the tree only reside for a short stay

who is there to say
that everything is here to stay

we can put it on repeat and hold on to the memory
but it will always be temporary

years and years of buried feelings
and months and months of digging
to bring them all back up
in a matter of minutes

it's almost like they never went away
the blue sky has again turned grey

this is the day i found out that happiness for me
is only temporary
