The Thunder Plains were just as I remembered them, dark, rainy, and just all out depressing. I tried to avoid the place whenever possible but lately I found myself taking romps through the place more and more. It was one of the few places that was still the same, sort of. There was less risk of getting electrocuted since the lightning towers have been fixed up. I remember the first time we all came here. Rikku was terrified and you, well, you just didn't listen. I remember when you ignored both Lulu and Sir Auron's warnings not to stray too far from the towers and was nearly electrocuted. You jumped back just in time. You even yelled at the sky, daring it to strike you. I thought you were crazy but you were able to dodge lightning bolt after lightning bolt. You had successfully dodged 200 bolts and were rewarded at the inn. You were so happy and even Lulu complemented you on your 'empty headed skill' when all of a sudden a bolt came down and you dodged just in time to be hit by a second bolt. I got was so worried that you were killed but you just got back up as if nothing had happened. After you dusted yourself off and began to laugh, Sir Auron passed with a 'hmph' and we continued on our way. Those were good times.
Now, it was just Rikku, Paine, and myself walking through the rain. Still with each lightning bolt, Rikku flinched though not once did she ask 'Can we go back?'. She grew up a lot, inside and out.
"So, what are we going to do when we find this fiend?" Rikku asked. She tried her best at pushing her soaked bangs from her eyes (you would think that's where the bandana would help.) and looked at me.
"Hurt it." Paine responded from behind us, her normaly spiked hair was down around her face and it was clearly annoying her. She added, "Badly."
We just had to laugh. That's when we saw it, a huge greenish-brown fiend. We began to chase after it through the pouring rain. We stopped when it entered a cave. We hesitated going in, we weren't sure what to expect. After a moment we went inside and looked around. Surprisingly, it was well lit for a cave. We wondered around a bit, collecting what we could from treasure chests but mostly getting lost and hitting dead ends.
"Looks like another dead end." I said with a tired sigh.
"Could you please not say 'dead'." Rikku wined. I gave her quick hug and we continued on until we finally found the fiend. I changed into a Gun Mage and cast Scan. Our fiend was a Zalamander with a HP of 12850, a MP of 276, and a Null Magic effect. We looked at each other, nodded, and ran into battle.
We began by changing dress spheres. Rikku turned Alchemist, Paine turned Dark Knight and I returned to being a Gunner. We took turns attacking until the fiend went down and dissolved into a cloud of pyreflies.
It was now time for the concert. We returned to the Celsius and Shinra explained about a special sphere that would produce a hologram stage. I admit that I didn't really pay much attention because I had no interest in machina. I looked at Paine and Rikku and motioned for them to follow me to the stage, a.k.a the deck of the airship.
Alone, I walked out to the edge of the deck and looked around at all the people. They had momentarily stopped their fighting to hear me. It was then that I decided that I wouldn't disappoint them.
"In only two short years, Spira has shaken off it's unhappy past. We have moved on." I continued on for a couple more minutes before I signaled for the music to begin to play. I let my mind wonder as I had yet to come up with or remember the lyrics for this song. Finally I opened my eyes and began to sing.
"I know that you're hiding things, using gentle words to shelter me. Your words where like a dream, but dreams could never fool me. Not that easily..."
I paused, thinking but then I remembered you.
"I acted so distant then, didn't say good-bye before you left, but I was listening. You fight your battles far from me, far too easily." I was letting myself feel the music now. I opened my eyes to see a silenced crowd.
"Save your tears, I'll come back. I could hear you whisper as you walked though that door..." Suddenly, the hologram sphere went out of control. The crowd was amazed but I knew something was going on when my songstress outfit began to glow and send up pyreflies. It only did that once, that time in the Farplane. When he, when he embrased me. There was an echo in my mind of my voice and someone elses' yelling "Don't touch me."
"But still I swore, I'd hide my pain! When I turn back the pages..." We were floating through Zanarkand, just like in that room in Seymour's mansion. The pictures began changing.
"Shouting might've been the answer. What if I shed my tears and begged you not to depart?" Then I saw him. The man that looked and sounded just like you. The man in the spheres. He was trying to activate some type of Machina but a brown haired woman dressed the very same as me stood trying to stop him. She pleaded but he didn't listen.
"But now I'm not afraid to say what's in my heart." He activated the Machina monster and a wave of multicolored lights shot upwards. The woman began to cry. Was she 'Lenne'?
"Though a thousand words have never been spoken," The scene changed again and they were standing on a platform. The same type as in my dream.
"They'll fly to you, crossing over the time and distance holding you. Suspended on silver wings..." A bright spot light shone around them and 'Lenne' threw herself into his arms. An army of armed men blocked their exit. She looked up at him, a single tear rolling down her cheek. He looked at her, his eyes filled with sorrow.
"And a thousand words, one thousand confessions," The army of men then took aim at the couple and prepared to fire. The one who looked like you then glared at the men, anger now replacing the sorrow. I knew that look, it was the look you gave Yu Yevon.
"Will cradle you, making all of the pain you feel seem far away. They'll hold you forever!" They fired upon the couple. As the bullets ripped through their falling bodies, a plethora of memories flashed through Lenne's mind and my mind as well. They landed with a soft thud and the army advanced on their fallen bodies. Lenne was still alive and with the last of her strength, she looked to her lover, shead the last of her tears, and died. The men didn't even have the decency to close her eyes. The scene faded to black and I continued to sing, though I don't know why.
"The dream isn't over yet, though I often say I can forget." Now it was time to tell my story. An image of Besaid circled around us.
"I still relive that day. You've been there with me all the way, I still hear you say." Images of lake Macalania then began to show. The sphere was showing memories. If I wished hard enough, maybe I'd see you.
"Wait for me I'll write you letters, I could see how you stammered with your eyes to the floor, but still I swore to hide the doubt," Lake Macalania began to melt, like it was doing now. The forest was disappearing. Dying.
"When I turn back the pages, anger might have been the answer.
What if I'd hung my head and said that I couldn't wait?" The thoughts of the Aeon battles circled around us.
"But now I'm strong enough to know it's not too late" Finally, my memory of my trip to the farplane surfaced. The fall into the hole in the chamber of the fayth, the long fall down and finally me waking up in the farplane where I though I saw you.
"Oh a thousand words, one thousand embraces will cradle you, making all of your weary days seem far away. They'll hold you forever!" I tried harder and harder to think of you and only you.. I wanted to see you so badly it hurt but all that came was the memory of him came, the man who I thought was you. The memory of his embrace and my mind's echo. "Don't touch me!"
Oh a thousand words have never been spoken. They'll fly to you; they'll carry you home and back into my arms," I tried harder still. I channeled that into my song. Lenne was helping me. We were a lot alike, her and I.
"Suspended on silver wings!". I finally got my wish. You finally appeared before me and smiled your gentle smile. The scene changed but you remained. We were standing where Lenne and her lover died but instead of the metal monster behind us, there was a blue sky through a gaping hole.
"And a thousand words call out through the ages," As I went to embrace you, you began to fade away again. No! I wan't going to lose you again!
"They'll cradle you"As you continued to fade, you smiled as if telling me that it was alright. I still needed you with me. Just like that, you were gone and I was alone again.
"Turning all of the lonely years to only days!" Lenne stood next to me as the scene faded to a blue and more pyreflies began to circle the two of us. She took her hand in mine before she too began to fade and the song neared its ending. She smiled at me and let go of my hand after a firm squeeze.
"They'll hold you forever!!" Now she too was gone and I began to feel weak.
The song ended and I feel to my knees. Rikku and Paine rushed to my side. I was happy and incredibly sad at the same time. I got my wish, I got to see you again but now, there was nothing more to do. Nothing more to search for.
"Yuna!" Paine looked at me and for the first time I say a look of worry on her face.
"Yunie, that was---" Rikku trailed off. I nodded. She then realized what I just had. "I'm so sorry."
With that, my search for you was over. I had officially given up but then it hit me. What you thought me, the precious gift you gave to me. You taught me not to give up! I decided then that I still wouldn't give up. I would see you again, someday and that was worth searching for the rest of eternity. I promised myself and I promise you now. Someday, we'll be together.

A/N: I know, I know, that never really happened but I wanted to use the whole song. I hope you liked my parts too. This originally was posted on fanfiction dot net, but with some changes in how the song flowed and the lyrics used. In the original, I used the Japanese lyrics (which I like much better) This time around, I figured I'd use the English ones.
