Gray.

That's all I could see as I stared at the sky. I looked to my right, Annabeth lay unconscious next to me.

I try to stand up, but I fall to one of the seats of the boat.

It's foggy, and gray, and open.
Open? Where are we? There's no land, just floating debris from the hurricane.

I stand up and kneel next to Annabeth, who is still unconscious.

I shake her,
"Annabeth, Annabeth." I say

Her eyes flutter open,
"What?" She asks confused.
"Where are we."

I look around me,
"I don't know."

Annabeths eyes bulge and she stumbles to the side of the boat to empty the contents of her stomach.

I fumble around the cabin and go down.

"Don't you have a survival and firsts aid kit in here somewhere?" I ask her.

"Yeah, my dad is always protective like that." She replies groggily.

"Here it is!" I exclaim as I pull out the red duffle bag.

"What do we got?" She asked as she slumped against the side of the boat.

"First aid kit, flares, flashlight, matches and a cup." I tell her

"What's in the first aid kit?" She asks.

The first aid kit is preferably large,
"Bandaids, antiseptic, bandages, gauze, sea sickness pills, and burn cream and a sea survival book." I say

Annabeth turns her attention behind me with a shocked face.
I turn to see.

It's two people, one of them is sitting on top of a pool floaty unconscious, and the other is clinging to the side.

"Help!!" The conscious one screams.

I turn to Annabeth,
"Annabeth! Look for a rope or anything that we can throw to them!" I yell.

Annabeth quickly snaps into action, scavenging the cabin below.

"One minute!" I yell to the people.
"My friend is looking for a rope."

Annabeth emerged from the cabin,
"I found a rope."

She hands it to me, I adjust it and cast it out.

The rope drapes over the pool floaty and the man grabs it.

"Ok Annabeth we have to pull."
I hand her a section of rope as I grab onto mine.

"Pull!" I yell.

After a few minutes of pulling the two people, they finally make it to the boat, first we help the man that we had spoken to before. He had darker skin and glasses.
The unconscious one had brown hair and brown eyes.

The unconscious one has several bloody tears on the right side of his upper back.

We turn him over so he lays on his back as Annabeth helps the other boy onto the boat.

"What happened?" I ask the other boy as I examine the brown haired one.

"The waves pushed him down, fell right into the coral." He said.

Annabeth grabs the first aid kit and tends to the cut on his face.

"What's your name?" She asks him

He looks her in the eyes.
"Houston Johnson."
"Annabeth Palthorn."

I shake the boy lying on the ground.

"Hey!" I yell.

His eyes flutter open, he jerks up and spits out some water.

He stares me in the eye,
"Am I dead?" He asks.
"No." I say and smile to myself.

"But I do have to treat those cuts ok your back, so you'll have to take off your shirt." I tell him.

He grins,
"Usually a girl doesn't asks me that until after the first date."

"Well that would be funny... if we weren't stranded in the Atlantic."

"That's Ben." Houston says.
"The 'ladies man'."

"Annabeth could I have the first aid kit?" She hands it to me.

Ben takes off his shirt, he's cut...really cut...'What are you doing?' I think to myself.

I focus on finding what I need in the first aid kit.

I find the antiseptic and spray it on the cuts.

"Ow!" Ben cringes.
I keep on going.

I put one of those big square Bandaids of the cuts like the ones you put on your knee when you fall off your bike.

Once I finished I slumped against the side of the boat.

"So..." Houston says "What's the plan?"

"We could read the Sea Survival book." Annabeth suggests.

I rummage around the bag and pull it out.

I flip open to the first page.

"Perhaps one of the most difficult survival situations is sea survival, you must be resourceful to survive." I read aloud

"If you are a survivor on the open sea you will face many dangers including wind, waves, and other hazards. Precautionary Measures:
•Your knowledge of the uses of the equipment.
•Your special skills.
•Your will to live" I finish the first page.

"Our will to live?" Ben asks, as he turns serious.

"We have to be all in on surviving." I tell him.

"Could I read?" Annabeth asks.

"Sure." I hand her the small book.

She starts,
"If you are caught in a storm please do the following:
•Try to salvage all floating equipment.
•If there are other boats or rafts latch them together.
•Try to signal air crafts with your night or day flare."

"People are gonna come looking for us right Harper?" She asks me.

I hesitate, I honestly don't know.
"Yeah, of course Annabeth."

"I'll read." Says Houston. Annabeth hands him the book.

"Water, with it alone you can live ten days or more, depending on your will to live. If you don't have water, don't eat. Do not eat if nauseous, you may lose all your food. If nauseated, take only water and rest. To collect rain water set up cups or jugs while it is raining. Remember! Do not drink sea water
Do no drink urine.
Do not drink alcohol.
Do not smoke.
Do not eat unless water is available." He finishes.

Right as it starts to rain.
