Chapter Twenty-Nine: Fox Obsessive Love:

She's truly beautiful. How long had he pursued her? He stopped counting the days a while back. He smirked over his wine.

"I appreciate you doing this," he said. "You have done well, doctor." Muraki stepped out from the shadows.

"My pleasure," he said. "Kimoto-san has something that belongs to me."

"That shinigami, huh?" the client asked.

"Yeah," Muraki said. The client couldn't believe his luck. This doctor knew how to find the Mother. At first, it sounded like a hoax.

"Why would you come to me with this information?" the client asked. "What do you get out of this?"

"Nothing much," Muraki said last month. "She has something of mine." The client raised his eyebrow.

"And what would that be?" he asked. Muraki's tone and expression became cold.

"She's married to my shinigami," he said. A common bond was formed. Both thought their objects of affection didn't look right together. Back in present, the set down his wine.

"You came with good news tonight, yes?" he asked.

"Of course," Muraki said. "She's left him."

"Oh? Left as in…?" the client asked.

"She's gone off on her own. She's left him."

"Excellent."

"It's only a matter of time."

"Yes."

Muraki was a strange handsome devil. He and the client were both alike. Both were addicts. The chase wasn't enough for them. They had to have possession of their objects of affection. The men knew what they were. Money and time could hide their true selves. The client finished off his drink.

"I have a plan from here to have her," he said. He reached over to his top drawer. Muraki held up his hand.

"No," he said. "Keep your money." The client raised his eyebrow.

"You sure?" he asked.

"Yes," Muraki said. "I will ask you a favor down the road." The client closed his drawer.

"Fair enough," he said.

Outside of the office, his son frowned. He needed to stop this madness. As much as he hated to admit it, the young man knew the only way how. He tightly shut his eyes.

/This can't go on like this/, the son thought. He turned and walked back to his room. He counted down to what would happen next. This time, he vowed to make things different. He had to destroy his father's dream.
