Chapter Four: Deal with the Demon Fox:
She played him for a little bit. Airi already knew what he wanted. In fact, she already waited for him at the apartment.
Anna's phone rang.
"Hello?" Airi asked.
"Anna-chan?" Tsuzuki asked.
"No," the Mother said, shaking her head.
"Oh good," Tsuzuki said. "I need to talk to you." She raised her eyebrow.
"Oh?" Airi asked.
"I have a favor to ask," he said.
"And what is that?"
He gulped over the phone. "I have a question too."
"Okay…" She waited on her end.
"You can separate kitsune from tsukai, right?" he asked.
"Yes. Why do you ask?" She listened to him gulp.
"Well…"
"Well?"
"I need your help."
"With what?"
"Well, you see. I want to kill Yasuo-san's kitsune, but not him."
"But won't they both die?"
"Not if the tie's cut, right?"
"Yes…" She saw it coming. He won't come out and say it. So annoying. Airi sighed.
"Come on," she said. "Spit out."
"Huh?" Tsuzuki asked. The Mother looked at Anna's nails.
"Speak or I hang up," she said.
"No, no! Don't do that!" he said. "I need you to cu the tie between Yasuo and his kitsune." Airi smirked. Bingo.
"What that so hard?" she asked.
"Will you do it?" he asked.
"And what do I get out it?"
"Anna-chan's free. You get more power. The curse is close to ending."
"And?"
"You get to be freer?"
"And?" She's already sold. How long should she let this hang? One minute? Two minutes? Three? Five? Ten?
"That's about it," Tsuzuki said. "Please help us?"
"Us?" Airi asked.
"Hisoka and I."
"Wait… So Anna doesn't know about this?"
"No."
"And why is that?"
"Look, are you going to help or not?"
"Why is Anna in the dark? Shouldn't she know your intent? Are you not married?"
"Airi-chan, please!"
"Are you not married?"
"Yes."
"So… Why the secrecy?"
Tsuzuki sighed. "I want to surprise her. We've been through so much with those people. I figured it would be a nice gift for her."
"That all?" Airi asked.
"Yes. Now can you please help us? Please?" he asked. The Mother put down Anna's hand.
"Fine," she said. "I will help you." That was the aim all along after all. She had her own agenda after all. Tsuzuki breathed out over the other line.
"Thank you, Airi-chan," he said.
"Yeah, yeah," the Mother said. "Bye." She hung up before Tsuzuki could speak.
And now the plan was set. Time to begin.
