From day to day, not much was changing in St. Mungo's clinic. Everyone was used to Draco's daily visits, whom they had to almost throw out after the end of visiting hours. They remembered the effort it took to make him change his mind about staying, even during nights.
A young woman treated in the brain damage department was Healer Leah's most challenging patient. As a coping mechanism to endure stress, she built such solid mental walls around her, that the healers simply could not reach her mind. Everyone agreed on one thing, though; she was the one who had to reach for them. She was the one who must have decided to come back.
Today though, Healer Leah had good news for young Malfoy:
"Mr. Malfoy, we have great news. Wonderful success! Wonderful! Today, Elvein took a hair comb in her hand, all by herself! Do not forget, though, that physical contact still causes hysterics, so don't go too near."
A well-known picture awaited Draco Malfoy in ward #209. Elvein sat on a hospital cot, empty eyes boring into the window. Only this time, pearls shone between her fingertips.
"Hello, Elvein. How are you feeling today? Healer Leah told me, you are making significant progress. That you took a hairpin, all by yourself. Do you remember? I was the one who gave it to you. And you added one of the twin pearls to it. You gifted the second one to me, so I could always come to you. See?" Draco unbuttoned the upper part of his chest and showed her his pendant. The dragon opened his wings, trying to reach the hairpin on Elvein's lap. "But he must show you the way to me too. Your pearl must be trying to come to me too! I know that there is a limit to everything, and there is only so much one person can endure. But please, find your way back to me! Elvein, I love you so much! Please, Come back to me!"
He could not hold tears anymore. Squirming uncomfortably, he stood up and turned his back to the young woman to dry his eyes. Then, he heard a shallow whisper:
"Draco…"
Is this the end of the story? Maybe, but maybe not. It all depends solely on you, my dear reader. If you are content with this ending, I thank you but must advise you to stop reading now.
But you, who have decided to continue discovering what hides behind life's leno curtains, I will disclose that our story is far, FAR away from ending. All you need to do is let me know and I'll continue daily updates.
Love,
Sonja
