I walk in, my mom's mad. She speaks to someone at the front desk, and no later than 20 minutes later, I'm trapped in this meant facility. I'm wearing my hoodie. My roommate, Alexa, says "You should really take your hoodie off." I look at her. "Shut up." I say, and she says nothing. God, she's annoying.
I'm Cora, and I've been placed in a mental hospital for several reasons. My roommate says I'm Alexa." I say nothing, I just turn to her and smile. "You are?" she asks me, her voice a soft yet cute tone. She sounds like Nezuko from Demon Slayer. I think to myself, then say "Cora." She smiles. "First time here?" I say "No, I've been here before." She asks me "Who were you here with?" I say "Old roommate. I think their name was Moxie." Now that I think of it, Moxie was their name. They had told me that they went by any pronouns, and I accepted that. I guess they were placed in this place because they hurt themself after a fight with their parents. I hear Alexa. "Come on! Lunch is here." I follow her. Meatball subs? I think, taking a sandwich and sitting across Alexa. Alexa is around fifteen or sixteen, and I see scars on her arms, and I look at mine. My arms are filled with scars, as well as my legs. I shove the sandwich away. Someone, probably a tech, says "Cora, please eat." I try to eat. One bite and I already feel sick. I'm not hungry anymore. That's what I want to say, but can't. A new girl walks in. She looks thirteen, and all I hear is "Move along, Brooke." Brooke. Brooke was the name of my dog I had when I was fourteen. I had to put her down. She sits next to me and Alexa. She says "I'm thirteen, bi, ace, and I don't care about what pronouns you use." She says, taking a bite of the sandwich.
